FPL tips gameweek 7 news GW7 advice

With Gameweek 7 of the Fantasy Premier League getting underway tomorrow, there is plenty to consider as we head into the final gameweek before another international break.

Things have started to take shape since the beginning of the season, and managers now have a clearer indication of which premium assets from recent years might struggle to reach the same heights this season.

Similarly, we can begin to identify budget options that could be in for a strong FPL campaign.

To help you navigate the ever-changing world of FPL, we will be discussing the leading asset so far, examining the goalkeeper who has been outperforming his peers, comparing an overperforming winger with an underperforming one, and identifying each club’s most selected FPL asset.

FPL Assets Leading On Form For Gameweek 7

Let’s start by looking at the current form amongst the best FPL players for Matchweek 7 before getting into our free fantasy football tips.

GW7Form

(Form is a metric that’s issued on the official FPL platform, which uses a player’s average score per match, calculated from all matches played by his club in the last 30 days.)

Goalkeepers:

  1. Robin Roefs remains first with 7.3 points
  2. Nick Pope is still second with 5.3 points
  3. Emiliano Martínez moves to third with 4.0 points

Defenders:

  1. Omar Alderete jumps to first with 10.0 points
  2. Gabriel Magalhães is second with 8.0 points
  3. Marc Guéhi is third with 6.7 points

Midfielders:

  1. Ryan Gravenberch is first with 8.7 points
  2. Antoine Semenyo is second with 8.3 points
  3. Jeremy Doku moves to third with 7.7 points

Forwards:

  1. Erling Haaland remains first with 12.7 points
  2. Jarrod Bowen is second with 6.7 points
  3. Nick Woltemade moves to third with 6.0 points

Erling Haaland Takes Over

At the start of the FPL campaign, Mohamed Salah was the most expensive player at £14.5m, while Erling Haaland came in at £14.0m.

Before gameweek 1, Salah was also the most-owned asset leading up to the start of the season.

While Salah is still the most expensive player, Erling Haaland’s performances have taken him to the brink of overtaking Salah in terms of value, as Haaland has risen to £14.4m with eight goals in 6 games.

Erling Haaland has established himself as the must-have asset in FPL, and stubborn managers who refused to include him might now be taking a 4-point hit just to bring him into their teams.

Haaland is currently leading multiple metrics in FPL.

Besides having the most goals in the league, he is also the top points scorer in FPL so far.

He has also received the most bonus points among all assets and is currently the only player to have had 3 Dream Team selections.

He also leads the ranks for expected goals (xG) and expected goal involvement (xGI).

Manchester City face Brentford, Everton, and Aston Villa in their next three fixtures.

With Haaland showing no signs of slowing down, he is currently the most transferred-in player leading up to the new gameweek, for the second consecutive gameweek.

Robin Roefs Is Outperforming All Goalkeepers

Newly promoted Sunderland have enjoyed a remarkable start to their Premier League campaign.

Having only lost one game so far, they currently sit in 5th position in the table.

Their goalkeeper, Robin Roefs, has played a massive part in their performances, and his FPL statistics prove this.

Roefs has earned a minimum of 8 points in 4 of Sunderland’s six games so far, receiving 10 points on two occasions and 8 points on another two occasions.

He scored 2 points against Aston Villa and one against Burnley, which have been his weakest results so far.

Roefs currently has 39 FPL points, 5 more than second-placed Nick Pope and seven more than third-placed Guglielmo Vicario.

The real test for Robin Roefs and Sunderland will be their next 5 fixtures, as they face Manchester United, Wolves, Chelsea, Everton, and Arsenal.

These will be challenging matches, and it will be interesting to see if Roefs can maintain his recent level of performance.

Jaidon Anthony Vs Mohamed Salah

It is not often that we compare a premium asset with a budget option, but the performances of Jaidon Anthony might be going under the radar for some FPL managers.

When comparing these two players in terms of price, a significant difference is evident.

When comparing them in terms of FPL performances, there is also a massive difference, but not in the way you might expect.

Mohamed Salah is currently priced at £14.5m, which is more than 2.5 times the price of Jaidon Anthony, at £5.7m.

However, on the pitch, Jaidon Anthony has been outperforming Salah in remarkable fashion.

Salah currently has a total of 32 points, eight fewer than Anthony.

Salah has only scored a single goal from open play in 6 games, while Anthony has scored 4.

Salah has had more touches in the opposition box with 36 compared to Anthony’s 22.

When driving forward, Anthony has been more effective, with 16 dribbles completed compared to Salah’s 5.

Anthony has also been more physical, with 28 duels won compared to Salah’s 10.

Defensively, Salah has not completed a single tackle so far and has made one successful interception, while Anthony has made eight tackles and completed six interceptions.

While Mohamed Salah tends to finish among the top FPL scorers at the end of each season, it’s possible that this season we may see him fall down the rankings, especially when considering early comparisons like this.

Top 3 FPL Gameweek 7 Captain Picks:

  1. Erling Haaland vs Brentford
  2. Bukayo Saka vs West Ham
  3. Jean Philippe Mateta vs Everton

Differential Captain Pick Of The Week

Alexander Isak

With Hugo Ekitike having picked up a knock for Liverpool in their midweek game, and with Alexander Isak seeing more and more playing time each week, we can expect Isak to start against Chelsea this weekend.

Liverpool has lost two consecutive games and will be looking to get back to winning ways.

A game against Chelsea before the international break might be the perfect setting for Isak to get his Premier League goal tally for Liverpool underway.

Final Thoughts

With Gameweek 6 complete, FPL managers now turn their attention to Gameweek 7 and the decisions that lie ahead.

By this stage of the season, patterns are becoming more apparent, but it is still important to avoid overreacting to a single poor performance.

Consistency from proven performers often pays off over the long term.

This weekend also presents challenges due to injuries, suspensions, and rotation, as several key players return or see increased playing time.

Keeping a close eye on confirmed lineups and team news will be vital for making smart transfer and captaincy decisions.

Fixture swings are becoming increasingly significant, with some teams entering favourable runs while others face tough schedules.

Planning transfers around these stretches can provide a strategic advantage and help protect your squad from unnecessary points hits.

Stay attentive to press conferences, injury updates, and official announcements before finalising your decisions.

Good luck for Gameweek 7.

May your captain score big and your squad reward careful planning.
