Triple Captain Weekend For Erling Haaland Owners
Since the Premier League fixtures for the 2025/26 season were announced, FPL managers have been eyeing up Gameweek 6 as a potential opportunity to use their Triple Captain chip on Erling Haaland.
The Norwegian’s performances since the start of the season have been providing more and more confirmation with each passing gameweek that this might indeed be the right call.
Since the start of the campaign, Erling Haaland has scored 6 goals in 5 games for Manchester City.
Remarkably, there has only been one game he hasn’t scored in this season, and that was against Tottenham Hotspur.
Having scored in 80% of his Premier League games since Gameweek 1, with a home game against newly promoted Burnley coming up next, and being the most transferred-in player ahead of Gameweek 6, it should be a complete no-brainer to triple captain Erling Haaland this coming weekend, right?
Well, yes, it would be, if it were not for the glaring yellow label surrounding his name on the FPL app.
It currently states that Haaland has a 75% chance of playing, and after being substituted in the 75th minute against Arsenal, some Haaland owners might feel uneasy about using arguably the most powerful FPL chip on him this weekend.
Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Erling Haaland has been struggling with back pain recently, and whether Pep might see Burnley as the perfect opportunity to give Haaland a rest remains to be seen.
While we will definitely see a large number of FPL managers triple-captaining Haaland this weekend, his recent injury concerns prove that things are never completely straightforward when it comes to FPL analysis.
Robert Sánchez Plays While Hugo Ekitike Is Suspended
Chelsea’s goalkeeper, Robert Sánchez, picked up a red card in their loss against Manchester United in Gameweek 5.
Many managers rushed to transfer him out of their squads, and he is currently the most transferred-out player leading up to Gameweek 6.
What many of these FPL managers might not have realised is that Sánchez received a one-match ban, which took effect last night in Chelsea’s League Cup game against Lincoln City, a match that Sánchez probably would not have featured in anyway.
Robert Sánchez will be available to start this weekend for Chelsea, who play against Brighton at Stamford Bridge.
Over at Liverpool, we see the opposite scenario taking place.
The Reds faced Southampton at Anfield last night, and many fans were left in disbelief as Hugo Ekitike removed his shirt after scoring the winner late in the game, seemingly forgetting that he was already on a yellow card.
After celebrating his goal, Ekitike received a second yellow and is now suspended for Liverpool’s Premier League game against Crystal Palace this coming weekend.
His suspension might force Arne Slot to start with Alexander Isak up front.
Alternatively, we could see Federico Chiesa rewarded for his man-of-the-match performance with a starting spot this weekend.
Marc Guéhi Vs Marcos Senesi
Two of the best-performing defensive assets so far have been Marc Guéhi and Marcos Senesi.
In terms of FPL performance, their stats are extremely similar.
Senesi is currently priced at £4.8m, with 37 FPL points so far.
Guéhi is priced at £4.7m, with 36 FPL points to date.
Only Trevoh Chalobah has more points among defenders this season, with 38.
But how do Marc Guéhi and Marcos Senesi compare in all areas of the pitch?
Both have played the full 450 minutes of Premier League football this season, with Senesi registering one attacking contribution in the form of an assist, and Guéhi registering one attacking contribution in the form of a goal.
Senesi has picked up a yellow card along the way, while Guéhi has not yet been booked.
Both players have had five touches in the opposition’s box.
Marc Guéhi has had one shot inside the opposition box, with no shots from outside the box.
Marcos Senesi has had one shot from outside the box and no shots from inside the box.
Senesi has an xG of 0.14, which is lower than Guéhi’s 0.39.
Senesi has attempted 6 crosses into the box, while Guéhi has attempted only one so far.
Guéhi’s xA is currently 0.04, with Senesi scoring higher on the xA metric at 0.15.
Marc Guéhi has won 27 duels, slightly more than Senesi with 24.
Senesi has completed 10 interceptions, which is more than Guéhi’s 6.
In terms of overall defensive contributions, Senesi leads the entire FPL pack with 66, almost doubling Guéhi’s 36.
While we are still in the early stages of the new FPL campaign, it will be interesting to see which of these two defenders ends the season with more points.
Time To Bring In Bukayo Saka?
In recent years, Arsenal’s right winger has been one of the best FPL options when he is fit.
Having struggled with injury this season, Bukayo Saka played 45 minutes in Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City last weekend.
Noni Madueke, who has played the most minutes in that right-wing position for Arsenal so far this campaign, has picked up an injury and is currently red-flagged with no return date set.
The chances of Bukayo Saka seeing plenty of minutes in the coming weeks look very likely.
Since he is owned by only 4% of FPL managers, Saka would actually be a differential pick as things stand.
Having proven himself as a major source of FPL points when in full flow, bringing Saka into your FPL squad might be worth the investment, especially as he is currently priced at £9.8m, which feels cheap for a player of his quality.
Monitoring his game time this weekend may be wise for those seeking confirmation in their decision to potentially add Saka to their squad.

Differential Captain Pick Of The Week
Bruno Fernandes
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has delivered 22 FPL points across his last three games.
After finding the net against Chelsea last weekend, the Portuguese midfielder should be brimming with confidence ahead of United’s trip to Brentford.
If Manchester United can dominate proceedings this weekend, Fernandes could once again provide strong returns for FPL managers.

Final Thoughts
With Gameweek 5 complete, FPL managers now turn their attention to Gameweek 6 and the decisions that lie ahead.
By this stage of the fantasy english premier league season, trends are becoming clearer, but it is still important not to overreact to one poor performance.
Sticking with proven performers often pays off over the course of the season.
This weekend also sees managers navigating injuries, suspensions, and rotations, with several key players returning or seeing increased playing time.
Monitoring confirmed lineups and team news will be crucial for making informed transfer and captaincy decisions.
Fixture swings are increasingly important, with some teams entering favourable runs while others face tough challenges.
Planning transfers around these schedules can give you an advantage and help protect your squad from unnecessary points hits.
Stay alert to press conferences, injury updates, and official team announcements before finalising your decisions.
Good luck for Gameweek 6.
May your captain deliver strong returns and your squad reward careful planning.
