Barcelona-produced Adama Traoré has left Fulham to join West Ham United to help their bid to avoid relegation.
He joined them for a reported €2.3m loan fee for the last six months of the season.
In this Adama Traoré scout report, we will assess what he can offer West Ham, whether he is a strong addition to the squad to help them out of the bottom three, and, once the loan ends, which potential clubs could benefit from a player of his calibre.
Adama Traoré Stats
Adama Traoré has never been regarded as a high-scoring, high-assist player.
So far in the 2025/2026 season, he has no goals or assists in the Premier League, and in the 2024/2025 season, he managed two goals and seven assists in 36 appearances.
Part of this can be attributed to not playing for top teams, but part of it is also his playing style, which we will examine below.
He averaged 1.98 shots per 90 minutes in the 2024/2025 season in the EPL, and for two goals to be the outcome, he is not a high-output player.
Adama Traoré Final Third Actions
Marco Silva let Adama Traoré have more freedom on the ball than previous clubs, allowing him to invert to where he could closely make a dangerous threat going forward.
This certainly was not a consistent case of him playing in behind like this, but it did show his passing range when playing with a No. 9 who likes to run in behind.
Where you would consistently see him is outside the edge of the box, as shown below, trying to play a cross or cut it across the pitch.
His crosses are very dangerous, mostly due to their speed.
The pace of the ball on his crosses is extremely fast, but they can at times lack accuracy.
Here, we see one with high accuracy, but the speed is what leads to the goal when the other Fulham player gets on the end of it.
He knows where the Traoré cross is going to be, so he makes the dart for it.
No opposing player can react in time to make an effort to stop it.

An issue in his game is the consistency of how he likes to play when entering the final third.
In the image above, we see where he likes to be when putting in a cross on the corner of the box.
However, when further out wide, he is very reliant on one foot.
When he gets double-teamed, he does not always reset the play or play it back; instead, he tries to force a dribble or a cross.
He is double-teamed because players know he will keep going further down the line on one foot.
Once he is pressured in a scenario like this, it is hard for him to change his reasoning in the attack.
He does not try to push into the penalty box, but instead moves parallel away from it until he has to put in a cross before the ball runs out of play.
We see it again in a more recent match, with him being double-teamed all the way down the length of the pitch, with no space to cut inside.
If you do not see an opportunity to cut inside, why are you still dribbling the ball out of play?
Although in this case, he takes it all the way down the touchline and puts in a dangerous cross, it is not a reliable strategy.
Attacking as an attacker cannot be the same consistent dribble; it needs spice.
Unless you are Arjen Robben, who was world-class at cutting inside to the point where every defender on the planet knew he was cutting inside, but nobody could stop it.
You need to switch up the way you attack the box.
Scenarios like these are what make managers, teammates, and football fans angry the most.
A wasted opportunity, and one of the most annoying things to see on a pitch, is a player stalling out an attack.
Traoré is a world-class dribbler.
His speed and tight-space dribbling are among the best, but dribbling sideways toward the touchline is not a great strategy and does not benefit his game.
Adama Traoré Defensive Contribution
Because of his speed and stamina, Adama Traoré is an asset in defensive contributions.
Because of his strength, there are many moments when his defensive effort results in a foul, allowing the opponent to reset the play and relax.
This is a downside, but his willingness to track back, recover, and regain possession is evident.
He certainly is not afraid to put his body on the line and go shoulder-to-shoulder.
Adama Traoré Crossing
Arguably, the best part about his game, after his dribbling ability, is his crossing.
He does not need much room or a long run-up to put in a well-timed cross.
Typically, you need a very good wind-up, but even without that, Adama Traoré can put in a dangerous threat.
Fulham treats his crosses almost like a set-piece in itself.
Players are positioned and ready, knowing the ball is going to come in very fast and land in a dangerous spot.
You do not usually see teams treat a winger with the ball who is looking to put in a cross as if it is set-piece level dangerous, but Fulham took advantage of that with Adama Traoré.
Traoré averages 5.3 crosses per 90 across his whole career and 5.0 crosses per 90 at Fulham during the 2025/2026 season.
How Does Adama Traoré Fit At West Ham?
Nuno Espírito Santo does not really have a strong attacking style of play where Adama Traoré would fit best.
Under Marco Silva, he had more freedom to roam in and out of midfield spaces, but under Nuno, who is not as tactically strong in attack, it does not look like this will end up being a good stint.
We saw from his earlier stats that his goal and assist contributions are weak.
For a team in a relegation battle, you need goals now; otherwise, you will be relegated.
I think at the moment, West Ham wants to get their hands on any attacker available to spice up their attack, and Traoré is a great addition under regular-season conditions.
With that being said, it would be difficult to get someone who will give you goals and assists game after game when you are in relegation, because why would that player join you?
I think if Jarrod Bowen slots into the 10 role where Lucas Paquetá was and Traoré slots into the right wing, you can add something useful to their attack.
However, if they maintain their current formation, this would have been a waste of the signing.
With a player like Jarrod Bowen in a creative role, Traoré’s speed can get him behind the defensive line and allow him to contribute to West Ham’s attack.
Nuno used to use a 3-4-3, and if he goes back to this, it would be great for Traoré.
Adama Traoré Best Club Fit
I think a club that Adama Traoré can slot in very well is Inter Milan.
They like to have their wing-backs tuck in defensively but also be a part of their attack heavily.
Their wing-back options are arguably some of the best in the world, and they are full of stamina and attacking and defensive contributions.
Adama Traoré can slot in very well at Inter, tucking in defensively, which he took up in a few roles at Barcelona, but also getting involved as a natural winger and aiding the attack with lots of freedom on the width.
Since they use a 3-5-2, he will have lots of space to roam up top.
It is not a rumour or a media link that puts the two together, but based on Inter Milan’s style of play and the width Adama Traoré provides, he could be a great player for them if the chance arises.
Conclusion
Adama Traoré was once valued at €40m at his peak; at a current market value of €8m, this is an opportunity to demonstrate why he was sought after many years ago.
If Nuno can get his tactics right, you could very well see a revival of his career.
If not, it is hard to see where he could be off to next.
He will most definitely not be staying with West Ham if they face relegation.
