Maghnes Akliouche Scout Report At AS Monaco 2025/2026: France’s Next Breakout Playmaker? – Player Analysis

Maghnes Akliouche At AS Monaco 20252026

Over the last decade, Paris has been one of Europe’s hotbeds for young talent.

They have produced attackers such as Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé, while ushering in a new wave of talent with the likes of Warren Zaïre‑Emery and Leny Yoro.

Within that lineage but playing further south for AS Monaco, Maghnes Akliouche has become one of the most exciting attacking midfielders in Europe.

He is a player whose game revolves around the half-space, high-tempo progression, and out-of-possession intensity.

He is neither a classical number ten nor a wide forward.

He is more of an interior winger who begins nominally on the right and bends into central spaces to connect play.

This Maghnes Akliouche scout report and player analysis outlines why his appeal to some of Europe’s best teams is not just due to his productivity, but also the repeatability of his underlying actions.

Maghnes Akliouche Stats

The pizza chart below compares Akliouche to his positional peers across Europe’s top five leagues from last season.

Many of his peers were able to secure a big summer move.

Yet, Akloiuche very much holds his own with the best of them.

Maghnes Akliouche Pizza Chart 2024/2025

Maghnes Akliouche pizza chart

Akliouche performs above average in every metric, except for aerial duels per 90 and aerial duel success %.

His progressive passing and dangerous passing are particularly attractive standouts from the pizza chart.

These numbers have dipped slightly across the board for 2025/2026 so far, but that is with a far smaller sample size than we have for 2024/2025.

Maghnes Akliouche Technical Foundation

Maghnes Akliouche’s technical base is high.

His receiving stance is open enough to access either foot but compact sufficient to protect against contact from behind.

When he gets to the right half space with his back to goal, he takes the first touch on his inside right to close the ball off, then uses his second touch on the left to roll past an opposition midfielder or play a through ball.

This two‑touch pattern allows him to show the defender one picture and execute another.

It is this same move that supports his flicks and give-and-gos.

In a league win over Nantes, Akilouche picks up the ball and uses his body to deceive and bypass defenders.

As he looks set to beat another, he slips a through ball to create a chance on goal.

https://totalfootballanalysis.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/wyPLAYLIST_b29eeaa7-1.mp4

He will let the ball run across his body to load the weak foot and then clip a reverse angle into the overlapping full back or into the striker’s run on goal.

The weight of his passing from deeper areas is dangerous.

His through balls are played into channels and find their way to the receiving foot, aligning with the runner’s stride pattern.

In last year’s Olympic Final against Spain, Akilouche picks up the ball in a deeper area and threads a low, long pass into Jean-Philippe Mateta.

https://totalfootballanalysis.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/wyPLAYLIST_81bdbcec-1.mp4

His ball striking is good on both feet.

From the edge of the area, he can strike across the ball with his right to target the far post or wrap through the inside of the ball with his left to bring a cutback to the penalty area.

He has also shown the ability to chop and shoot without a large backlift, which shortens the goalkeeper’s reaction time.

His confidence in the final third supports these actions.

Under pressure in the build-up, he uses layoffs to bounce the ball off the nine or the near eight and re-receive in space.

Maghnes Akliouche Carrying & 1-v-1 Play

A core differentiator is his ability to carry under pressure.

His advantage lies in stride modulation and the need for minimal touches.

In tight spaces, he increases his touch frequency and is able to maintain control of the ball.

When he faces a full-back in isolation, he rarely commits early.

He shows the ball, invites the step, then uses a tap‑through to win the defender’s front foot and rides the contact.

As shown in the UEFA Champions League versus FK Bodø/Glimt, Akliouche is 1-v-1 with the full-back on the right side of the pitch.

He plays a clever touch, which allows him to play the ball in front of him while he runs around the full-back.

He is able to be in control of the duel.

In the middle third, he carries to shift the pressing structure rather than to beat three men.

A six‑to‑eight metre carry draws the nearest pivot, opens the lane to the ten, and then the release is possible.

This is why his progressive carrying complements his passing rather than substituting for it.

As shown against Paris FC, Akliouche is able to initiate a dangerous attack purely through his strong ball-carrying.

His ball-carrying naturally attracts the opposition to him, which leaves space and a spare man available for Akliouche to pick out.

Maghnes Akliouche Spatial Behaviour & Role Within AS Monaco Structure

AS Monaco’s right side is built to allow Maghnes Akliouche to start wide and arrive inside (he plays as the right ten in a 3-4-2-1 formation).

Kprein Diatta makes runs that allow Akliouche to pick up those right space areas (and on the last line).

When the ball is on the far side, he positions himself on the blind shoulder of the opposition’s left‑sided midfielder, ready to receive on the turn as the ball travels across.

On ball arrival, he prefers one of two actions.

Either he plays first time into the striker’s feet and spins inside to form a triangle with the far eight, or feeds a through ball into the run between full back and centre back.

Maghnes Akliouche Passing Profile & Chance Creation

The statistical profile supports the eye test.

Relative to positional peers across the top five leagues and European competitions in the last year, he is posting 4.4 shot‑creating actions per 90 (77th percentile), adds 3.91 final third passes per 90 (also at the 89th percentile), and relishes the opportunity to gain access into dangerous areas.

His miscontrol statistic of 2.86 per 90 (23rd percentile) is an indicator of risk appetite and of the zones in which he receives.

Because he frequently takes the ball on the half turn between the lines with the opposition closing him down, the baseline probability of imperfect touches increases.

The positive upside to this is shown in the video below, where his half-turn allows him to see the picture in front of him.

He is then able to combine and follow the pass into a dangerous position, which results in a goal.

Maghnes Akliouche Out-Of-Possession Work & Duelling Intensity

Akliouche’s off‑the-ball contribution is stronger than the stereotype for a creative attacker.

The combined tackles and interceptions of 2.65 per 90 (90th percentile) and ball recoveries of 5.03 per 90 (88th percentile) show engagement and awareness.

He is able to press on cues, and the most common way is the back foot reception of the opposing full-back.

In the group-stage match against Bodø/Glimt, Akilouche presses high and tracks the left-sided full-back as he tries to advance with a central option.

He shuts him down, leaving no choice but to recycle possession back to the goalkeeper.

This is beneficial because his pressure removes the inside pass while his body shape shows outside, compressing the space and triggering a backward touch.

Nowadays, off-the-ball work is essential because coordinated presses create turnovers and start attacks closer to goal.

https://totalfootballanalysis.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/32e3d-online-video-cutter.com_MutedVideo_com-1.mp4

If the opposition player plays a square ball, he triggers a secondary press, arriving on the receiver’s first touch to force a turnover or a clearance.

In midfield counterpressure, he is alert to second balls, and his intensity in duels is consistent; he does not shy away from contact, which is a prerequisite in most top teams in the current football meta.

Maghnes Akliouche Fit Across Systems

Maghnes Akliouche’s profile can be used in different systems and game models.

In a 4‑2‑3‑1, he can play as the right winger who moves inside to overload the half-space with the central ten.

His progressive passing numbers support him being the main channel for chance creation, and his carrying allows him to fix the fullback before releasing the underlap.

In a 4-3-3, he is best as the advanced right eight in a box-midfield interpretation, arriving beyond the winger to attack the half-space.

The out‑of‑possession intensity means he will meet the pressing demands of a high block, and his recovery numbers suggest he can function in a mid‑block as well.

In a 3‑2‑2‑3 box, he can be one of the interior tens, receiving between the lines with two pivots behind him and wing-backs outside.

The common thread is access to the right half-space, a striker who pins, and a full-back or wing-back who can provide width to free up his interior lane.

Conclusion

Maghnes Akliouche is an attacking midfielder shaped by the Parisian school of flair and by Monaco’s emphasis on fast, purposeful progression.

He offers high‑quality weight of pass from deeper zones and the courage to receive between lines under pressure.

He plays quickly, uses third‑man combinations to manipulate blocks, and complements his on-the-ball work with out‑of‑possession work.

The data profile suggests a player whose strengths will translate across systems that value half‑space creators capable of both initiating and finishing attacks.

If he reduces miscontrols through marginal technical gains and codifies his final‑third choices, he will continue to justify links to Europe’s top clubs.
