Petar Sučić Scout Report At Inter Milan 2025/2026: His Importance Inside The Final Third In Cristian Chivu System – Player Analysis

Since Petar Sučić joined Inter Milan in June 2025, he has made a significant impact within I Nerazzurri.

His performances have been convincing enough so far, with two assists and one goal in 11 appearances.

More importantly, his concrete support and addition to Inter Milan’s build-up and attacking actions were valuable throughout the start of this season, whether in Serie A or in the UEFA Champions League games.

It is worth noting that Sučić is making his first experience in one of the top European leagues, having started his career with Dinamo Zagreb from 2022 to 2025, with one season spent on loan at Zrinjski Mostar.

In this Petar Sučić scout report, we will analyze Sučić’s quick adaptation to Serie A and its high standards, as well as the player’s immediate impact on Cristian Chivu’s shape and Inter Milan’s performance.

Petar Sučić Roles & Positions At Inter Milan

Under Cristian Chivu tactics, Sučić has been given sufficient playing time and trust in his abilities to contribute to the team and play a central role in the project.

Inter Milan’s ability to add a talented midfielder to an already established team, characterized by a high level of chemistry across all lines, facilitated Sučić’s integration with the team.

Furthermore, given that Sučić is an intelligent midfielder whose tactical understanding of the game, vision, and passing abilities are excellent, it was not complicated for him to quickly grasp the team’s needs and the missions he has to accomplish.

In terms of positioning, Sučić has been used as a central midfielder with both defensive and attacking roles, acting like a mezzala in midfield lines that typically consist of three midfielders.

He is not a deep-lying playmaker, but he has played in midfield duos previously, especially with Croatia and Dinamo Zagreb, which makes him capable of interpreting all the midfield duties perfectly.

In other words, Sučić can be relied on for interceptions, defensive coverage, penetrations, ball progression, dribbling, and key passes.

The following heat map and positional map illustrate the diverse positions Sučić has played in, highlighting the player’s midfield versatility and ability to adapt to multiple roles.

Although the positional map indicates that Sučić has played more as a defensive midfielder, it should be noted that Sučić has also played as a central midfielder in 4-2-3-1 formations that rely on just two midfielders.

Moreover, the technical and physical qualities of Sučić allow him to play exceptionally well as an advanced playmaker, as he fits that role perfectly.

But since Chivu’s Inter Milan relies mainly on the 3-5-2 formation, Sučić will most likely continue playing as a mezzala, which also suits him.

It should be noted that Sučić was previously used as a second striker and did not disappoint.

He has the goalscoring instinct, shooting skills, and dribbling abilities needed to be as efficient as possible in that attacking role.

Petar Sučić Style Of Play

Sučić is a midfielder whose progressive runs are usually impactful and useful.

This is largely thanks to his exceptional dribbling skills and excellent decision-making during duels with opponents.

His ability to quickly dribble past opponents despite not being one of the quickest players in terms of pace or agility makes him very valuable in the attacking phase.

In fact, he adds a different kind of support to the attacking phase than both of these players.

They are excellent with passing and shooting, but are not as useful as Sučić in terms of dribbling and ball progressions inside the final third.

This also means that Sučić needs to have even more attacking duties going forward, as he can be much more decisive inside the final third if given more freedom in that area.

The following pizza chart further confirms the player’s high dribbling rate per match at the start of this season, as that is one of his best traits as a midfielder.

Although his goal contribution numbers have not yet been remarkable, the progress seen in Sučić’s performances from the start of the season until the latest fixture can only guarantee that his goal contribution statistics will continue increasing significantly in the upcoming games.

Sučić has been gaining confidence game after game, and that is helping him become more dangerous inside the final third.

Chivu will need to keep working with Sučić to facilitate his linear and progressive improvement while encouraging him to be as involved as possible in the attacking phase.

Regarding attacking roles, Sučić possesses excellent shooting techniques and can use both feet for shooting from distance, thereby reinforcing the midfield’s shooting from distance capabilities.

Apart from mastering ball progression, Sučić can become an even more dangerous passer for Inter Milan if he attempts more key passes per game.

His high progressive passing averages this season prove that he is not a passive passer and that his passes often make the difference for the team.

Increasing the number of passes between the lines or towards the back of the defensive line would be even more rewarding for Sučić himself and for Inter Milan, as he has the potential to become a much more decisive passer within a team that has a dynamic and powerful striker.

Sučić proved during his time at Dinamo Zagreb that he can also be extremely dangerous when he leans to the left wing, thanks to his cutting inside and often well-executed curved shots.

Sučić is also valuable in the build-up phase and is required to move a lot without the ball to offer passing options for the defenders and the defensive midfielder.

He has usually been good enough in this regard.

However, his defensive duels won and his positioning can be further improved, as Sučić has not been as crucial defensively, knowing that his defensive support would help maintain the team’s balance.

The one defensive strength about Sučić this season so far is that he has been capable of winning a very high average of the aerial duels, and that’s very useful, especially for the team’s strategy for defending set-pieces.

Petar Sučić Goalscoring Traits

Sučić has not yet scored many goals for Cristian Chivu Inter Milan, but he has shown some very promising signs of doing so soon.

His previously scored goals in Croatia highlight many of his goalscoring attributes and how he can benefit Inter Milan from this perspective.

More importantly, his latest goal, scored for Inter Milan, further highlights the player’s attacking abilities and his capability of being more central to the process.

Petar Sučić Decisions Inside The Box

During this goal action, Sučić shows himself and offers a key passing option before choosing to dribble past his opponent instead of going for a shot that would have been blocked.

His smooth dribbling and the ease with which he made the dribble decision add significantly to the beauty of this goal, confirming that Sučić is often composed in such situations, a quality that helps him deal well with these moments and make sound decisions.

Using body feints or other types of dribbles was a recurring tactic for Sučić, even during his time at Dinamo Zagreb, as he did not hesitate to clear the potential shooting trajectory for himself and avoid any risk of having his shot blocked.

Petar Sučić Left-Footed Finishing From Distance

In addition, Sučić can be reliable from outside the box, using both feet for shooting, without compromising the accuracy of his shots, and remains very dangerous in this regard.

Sučić often resorts to finishing with his left foot whenever the occasion arises, ensuring that he shoots on target in most cases, as he has previously scored a number of goals using his left foot.

In these cases, Sučić takes some risks and prioritises concluding actions rather than losing the ball while trying to put it to his right foot.

This might sound obvious, but many players fall into this trap and lose the ball while attempting such actions.

During this goal action, for instance, Sučić gets a second ball, controls it, and immediately opts to shoot using his left foot.

His quick decisions and body coordination in executing this shot confirm not only that Sučić is reliable in terms of left-footed finishing but also that he is intelligent enough to know when to quickly conclude the action to avoid intercepting the ball and ultimately prevent his team from conceding a counterattack.

Petar Sučić Assist-Making Traits

When it comes to playmaking, Sučić has already been confirming his talent with several assists and numerous key passes this season.

He always does so with an extreme cold-blooded temper that irritates opponents and makes them wonder about his next move.

This cold-blooded temperament allows Sučić to make his decisions quickly, but without rushing things or making precipitous passes.

Sučić gives the impression of a player whose attacking actions are calculated and planned beforehand while remaining unpredictable.

Petar Sučić Key Passing Decisions

This was evident during many of his passing attempts and was especially noticeable in the following assist example.

During this action, Inter Milan launched a quick counterattack, and Sučić received the ball on the left wing, an inviting position to either cut inside and shoot or dribble externally and shoot.

Instead, Sučić was wise and unselfish enough to control the ball and provide a pass in space to Federico Dimarco, as he quickly realized that the latter would be in a more guaranteed goalscoring situation if given the pass.

Petar Sučić Penetration Choices & Their Impact

Sučić has also proven that he moves well with the ball inside the final third and often acts like an advanced playmaker.

His movement between the lines to link between midfield and attack is valuable and helps a lot in creating numerical superiority within those dangerous areas.

In the following assist example, Sučić receives a pass and immediately decides to intentionally attack the shown interval, thereby attracting both opponents circled in red, before providing a key pass to the liberated striker.

Such targeted penetrations can be very harmful to opposing defenses, as Sučić is often quick enough to provide passes at the right moment when his teammates become unmarked, thanks to his ball progressions.

Conclusion

Sučić promises to have an excellent season with Inter Milan, especially if he can maintain a consistent run of form throughout the season.

His impact in playmaking and in creating spaces for the strikers is progressively becoming very valuable for the team.

He also has great potential to score a high number of goals this season, whether from distance or following his penetrations into the box.

That said, working on improving his defensive input would help the team become even more balanced in both phases.
