Arsenal might have turned things around results-wise in recent weeks as Mikel Arteta’s side have started to build a number of wins, however it seemed to come to a crashing halt against Crystal Palace.
The Gunners appeared to really struggle to get going against the Eagles on Wednesday, although Roy Hodgson’s side were set up to try and take a point from the game and managed to limit the north London outfit to just four shots on target. Bettors using a site like Apuestas24 for the best odds possible would not have been happy with how the game turned out, that is for sure.
Although their recent performances would suggest that chances have not been too hard to come by, Nicolas Pepe certainly has not been a player that has been enjoying his share of the action when given the opportunity to play.
Of course, he has missed certain fixtures because of the stupid red card he picked up against Leeds United when he headbutted Gjanni Alioski, but when he has been on the pitch, it seems he has been rather ineffective.
Mikel Arteta decided to bring the record signing off the bench in the second half of their encounter with Crystal Palace on Wednesday, although it is hard to know what the Spanish manager was expecting when he sees some of the latest statistics to have come out on Twitter concerning the Ivory Coast international.
According to Twitter user, @Orbinho, the 25-year-old has failed to create a single chance from open play in the Premier League season so far; this should be incredibly concerning for a player who cost the club £72 million to sign from Lille in 2019.
Interestingly, though, Pepe has managed to have 12 shots on goal during the minutes that he has had, which has resulted in two goals so far in England’s top-flight (as per TransferMarkt).
Naturally, Arsenal fans would have been expecting more from Pepe when he takes to the field this season, considering his debut campaign as a Gunner was not as bad as many may have initially thought it was considering the amount of money it cost to bring him to the Emirates Stadium.
Last season, the winger managed to score five goals and provide a further six assists in his 31 Premier League appearances. Many Arsenal fans would like to see those numbers replicated and if not bettered this season, though.
