There is no doubt that the 2020/21 Premier League season was also going to be a little different to how previous editions have turned out, although it would have been incredibly challenging to have predicted that it would have turned out the way it has so far.
Indeed, those that used a BetVictor Promo Code and foresaw this at the beginning of the season will have likely received some great rewards for making what would have been considered a rather absurd prediction.
Of course, it is easy to say that things are incredibly different and that the unexpected has happened, although just how strange has the 20/21 Premier League season really been?
Well, a quick look at TransferMarkt for the Premier League table since the turn of the year just highlights how strange of a year it has been.
Taking just 2021 into account, Liverpool are currently sitting 17th in the table as Jurgen Klopp’s side are providing some rather relegation-candidate form; admittedly they have done more than enough in 2020 to make sure it is not a problem at that end of the spectrum, but a place in the top four could now be at risk, let alone trying to retain their Premier League title.
Of course, all of the injuries to the Reds’ defence have not helped, as Klopp is on his 18th central defensive partnership for the season, which is showing as they look rather fragile at the back and even Alisson Becker is not comfortable between the sticks after making a number of howlers in recent weeks.
The strikers are unable to do too much, either, with Liverpool appearing incredibly blunt and all out of ideas.
Indeed, Manchester City appear to be running away at the top, though, with 10 wins from their 10 played in 2021 so far, whilst West Ham United sit second after 6 wins from their eight matches, with one draw and one defeat.
Pep Guardiola’s side look unbeatable at the moment and with the Etihad Stadium outfit having conceded just 3 goals so far in 2021, scoring against them just once looks rather ominous rather than just being able to pick up a positive result.
Leicester City and Chelsea fill out the top four, whilst Manchester United and Arsenal fill out fifth and sixth, respectively.
Southampton are rock-bottom with a total of four points from their eight matches in 2021, although their point against Chelsea will have come as a confidence boost, whilst West Bromwich Albion and Newcastle United each have six points.
We said the 2020/21 Premier League season would be quite like no other, but who really expected it to be how it has shaped up?
