As Premier League 2020/21 is right around the corner, fans find it difficult to contain their excitement any longer. Although, Manchester City steps into the next season as favourites, don’t expect current champions, Liverpool, to just give up the title without a fight.
The opening of each Premier League season is just as thrilling as the finals, with rival clubs vying to throw in fresh talent to the mix. With that in mind, here are
The Top 5 Young Talents to Watch Out for in EPL 2020/21
- Mason Greenwood, Manchester United – The Red Devils have a long and celebrated track record of introducing some of the finest homegrown talents to the world. The latest in a long line of fixtures, 4000 consecutively to be exact, with Everton, being Mason Greenwood. The 18-year-old’s performance and temperament on the ground make him look increasingly like a future star.
Greenwood is often compared to United star Robin van Persie owing to his skill with the left foot and elegant style. Although, he is equally talented with his weaker right foot and is hailed as a natural finisher by Solksjaer.
- Gabriel Martinelli, Arsenal – Despite the initial nonchalance surrounding the youngster’s arrival last season, Martinelli quickly cemented his popularity in Arsenal’s fanbase. Arriving from Brazilian club Ituano, his on-field prowess earned him admiration from the sceptics.
The 19-year old has been quick to demonstrate his dedication and scoring abilities, with eight goals in nine competitions including a thrilling draw at Liverpool. Martinelli joins Arsenal’s young squad of Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe. The trio can hopefully help The Gunners win the EPL soon!
- Callum Hudson-Odoi, Chelsea – All eyes are on Chelsea’s young recruits this season and rightly so. But, the most talented player in the bunch struggles to find his form. Still recovering from a long-term injury, Hudson-Odoi signing up for last season raised hopes of a breakthrough campaign. But that is yet to happen.
Despite his limited time on the field, Hudson-Odoi has managed four assists, proving the youngster’s mettle with the ball. Fans are hoping for a complete recovery and a full-time return before the next season.
- Phil Foden, Manchester City – Although it’s been a while since Foden’s introduction to the Red’s EPL squad, the youngster is yet to earn his time on the field and showcase his optimum potential. Guardiola’s refusal to loan the youngster is a testament to his prowess.
David Villa’s departure next summer could be what the management is waiting for. Foden is a future England international star in the making and offers the right creative mix that Arsenal is currently missing in the midfield.
- Troy Parrott, Tottenham Hotspur – Irish football’s best young talent could be England’s next rising star under Jose Mourinho’s able mentorship. With a long history of nurturing young talents, this could be the break early on in his career that young Parrott needs.
With a striking debut vs New Zealand and 19 goals in 27 appearances, Parrott is UEFA’s joint-top scorer in the Youth League. The youngster is currently enlisted as a backup for Harry Kane in the next season.
