A lot of it is because of how well he has done during his loan spell at Sevilla this season. But Reguilon hasn’t disappointed anyone with his impressive performances from the left-back berth.

If that isn’t enough, he has shown great signs of being really good defensively. He has made 3.3 tackles per 90 minutes in the campaign and that too is the fourth-best at the club. So clearly, Reguilon thrives on playing the ball forward, dribbling it and then winning it back whenever the side loses it.
If that isn’t enough, he has made 1.2 interceptions per 90 minutes- another pretty impressive tally for the Andalusians. That isn’t an easy task by any means, but Reguilon has done the task on a regular basis this season in La Liga. It just says a lot about what sort of player he is.
Him generating an XA that is the third best at Sevilla is a fair reflection of what he really likes to do. He likes to move forward and loves the freedom to do just that. Real do have two full-back options in Marcelo and Ferland Mendy currently. But Marcelo isn’t getting any younger by age. Reguilon is a lot like him, when it comes to attacking and moving the ball forward. So in the long-term, Reguilon replacing Marcelo will make a lot of sense for Real Madrid.
