Brentford had an enjoyable 2022/23 season both on and off the pitch.
The London club looked set to finish in one of the European spots, but a dip in form for some key players meant they finished ninth in the table — one point below Spurs.
Among several other factors, the signing of Kevin Schade from German club SC Freiburg was one of the notable events from Brentford’s largely impressive season.
The below visualisation shows where the 21-year-old Schade ranks for some key metrics compared to the other left-wingers from the 2022/23 Premier League season.
Having spent all his career in Germany before moving to Brentford in January of 2023, Kevin Schade initially signed on loan for Thomas Frank’s side.
His move was made permanent this summer.
Promoted from Freiburg’s youth team to Freiburg’s senior team in 2021, Schade has played most of his minutes as a left-winger for Brentford.
In a short period, Schade showed that he was an impressive ball carrier and won a lot of fouls for his team.
He is super energetic up front and likes to press from the front foot to help his team win possession in dangerous areas.
The visual above doesn’t fully show what Schade is capable of, given that he played for less than 900 minutes last season, but he was almost always Brentford’s go-to attacking sub.
Schade is a high-volume shooter but is also a good finisher in front of the goal.
Because of his ban, Ivan Toney will be a massive miss for Brentford during the early months of next season.
Still, given Schade’s high potential and versatility in the frontline, Brentford will rely on him to justify his price tag and fulfil his potential in one of the toughest leagues in the world.
