With Premier League fixtures coming thick and fast, there is no time for anyone to reflect for too long on what has just happened as they will need to turn their attention to a new challenge.
Just like the Grand National horse race, the action comes incredibly quickly and making a successful prediction about what could happen over the course of the weekend can prove rather difficult to achieve.
Nonetheless, here are just some of the things that football fans from around the country and all corners of the world can look out for when the teams get going once again.
Sam Allardyce’s first game in charge
Following the surprise dismissal of Slaven Bilic earlier in the week, this weekend will see ‘Big Sam’ take charge of his first West Bromwich Albion match as he aims to save them from relegation. Indeed, there perhaps is not a bigger game that he could have come back to as this weekend will see the Baggies host Black Country rivals Aston Villa in the derby.
Should the Baggies lose, it will be easy for fans to point towards the board and put Sam Allardyce on the back foot almost immediately, especially after Bilic managed to get his team a point against Manchester City in his last act.
All-out attack between Manchester United and Leeds United
A huge rivalry is finally reignited at the weekend as Manchester United and Leeds United go up against one another for the first time in the Premier League in 16 years. Indeed, the rivalry has proven to be extremely fierce over the years and – despite there being no fans – it will likely remain hugely intense.
In addition, viewers should expect both sides to go out and attack from the beginning with a basketball-style match up likely to be on show as each team will go end-to-end. Marcelo Bielsa certainly does not appear to like defensive play, whilst Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will want to continue their fine form.
Chelsea vs West Ham could see hosts feeling blue
Chelsea vs West Ham United may take place on Monday and may find that they have a case of the Blues in the evening as the Hammers have proven to be a side that have their number. In the two Premier League matches that took place last season, the Irons managed to record victory in each of them.
Frank Lampard’s side are on a poor run of form at the moment, having suffered back-to-back defeats after a 17 unbeaten run across all competitions, therefore there may be an element of nervousness, whilst West Ham are on a good run of form themselves.
