Maarten Vandevoordt is leaving KRC Genk to sign for RB Leipzig in July 2024. We initially scouted Vandervoort in July 2023, grading him in our TIPPSTER model as ready to step up to Tier 1.
Who is Maarten Vandevoordt?
Maarten Vandevoordt is a promising young keeper who seemed fairly competent when having to play out from the back. He had a secure passing range and often tried to link up play inside his half with simple passes while also showcasing good technique when playing clipped balls into the final third. Despite this, his passes do lack a bit of penetrability and need to be sharper when trying to release teammates into the box. He had an excellent aerial presence as well and did well to make giving saves when needed. However, he does need to be more dominant when shielding his first post and has to make more diligent clearances under pressure.
