Joel Asoro leaves Djurgarden and joins Metz for €2m – xGOLD first identified the winger back in July of 2022 and we have tracked him since on a watchlist for a client, believing he could have an impact at a Tier 2 team. Is Metz a step too high?
Who is Joel Asoro?
“Joel Asoro is a 23-year-old, right-footed Swedish winger, with a height of 175cm and a decent physique. He was able to use his body, pace and quick feet to dribble past opponents, but had a tendency to look for fouls in offensive situations. With good offensive presence, he often showed himself in good areas and was able to find space in the final third with good footwork. He does get into dangerous positions in the final third to get shots away or set up teammates but needs to work on his final pass and finishing. In transitions as well, he showed good effort but was not able to get on the end of balls frequently. Defensively, he showed effort although he lacked the technique to win balls. Overall, he needs to be more polished in possession and play more direct football in the offensive zones.”
