Serie A Final Matchday Previews and Betting Tips

Another thrilling Serie A season comes to a close on Sunday, with almost everything still to play for. The two Milan clubs are STILL battling for the title, with one of the most enthralling races in years having to come to an end one way or another.

Elsewhere the battle for Europe is still on with Lazio, Roma, Fiorentina and Atalanta fighting it out to secure Europa League football, which would bring much greater financial rewards next season.

Without further ado, here’s what we’re backing in the Serie A for the final matchday this season…

Inter vs Sampdoria

Obviously, this is a must-win for Inter as they continue the pursuit of their arch-rivals in top spot. All they can do is get three points against a Sampdoria side with nothing to play for and hope Milan slip up.

Inter are in fine form ahead of this Sunday 5 pm kick-off clash, winning four out of their last five, while Sampdoria’s form is a lot more patchy (two wins, two losses and a draw in the same period). But the last day of the season can notoriously throw up surprises in any league.

Having said that, we can’t see it happening on this occasion, with Inter needing to do the business badly here. They are of course heavy favourites at 1/9, while the away side are priced at 20/1. We like the look of a bet builder, consisting of Edin Dzeko to score anytime, over 2.5 match goals and over 10 match corners, priced at 15/4.

Sassuolo vs AC Milan

Again, it couldn’t be simpler for AC Milan – win and the Serie A title is theirs for the first time since 2011. A ridiculous stat considering the club’s previous domestic and European dominance. Fans are desperate for the club to return to past glories and winning on Sunday will be a big step in the right direction.

The Rossoneri are in imperious form, winning five from five and they are away to a Sassuolo side with nothing left to play for. The home side’s form isn’t the best with just one win in their last five league games.

We expect a Milan win in this one and they are firm favourites priced at 4/9, while Sassuolo comes in at 6/1 outsiders. Milan have a tendency to concede a lot of goals, so we are backing the away win and both sides to score at 7/4.

Lazio vs Verona

Now onto the battle for Europe, where Lazio are in prime position to take a Europa League spot. They host Verona who are placed just outside the cluster of teams fighting it out, with no chance of gaining a place in Europe.

Both sides will need an improvement on current form though, with each having just two wins in their last five. A point would probably be enough for the home side, with Roma three points behind them with one game to go and a goal difference that looks beyond the reach of Mourinho’s side.

Lazio enter this as favourites at 3/ 5 while the away side are priced at 4/1 to win. We like the look of Lazio to win both halves, at 15/4.

Torino vs Roma

Jose Mourinho’s side have enjoyed a decent first season under the Portuguese coach, as they currently sit sixth and have a Europa League Conference final to look forward to next week, which will see them bag a Europa League place next year should they win it.

Regardless of that though, the special one will want to earn a place through a domestic league finish and not have their hopes rest on next week’s clash with Dutch side Feyenoord. They will have to overturn dismal league form though, with no win in their last five games, while Torino have three from the same amount of games.

This one kicks off on Friday evening and the away side are favourites priced at EVENS, but it promises to be a tight game with Torino coming in at 5/2. A 6/1 bet builder of Tammy Abraham to score anytime, BTTS and a Roma win is our pick for this one.

Fiorentina vs Juventus

Finally, we have Fiorentina taking on Juventus, who have already secured Champions League football for next season. The home side occupy the single Europa Conference League spot but will be hoping to pounce on any mistake by Roma, who are just one point above them.

However, if Fiorentina slip up, they could lose out on European football altogether, with Atalanta on the same points tally just behind them. They also need to turn around the dismal form with one win from five. Juve have nothing to play for but are still a side full of world-class talent that any team will have to be at their best to beat.

The home side are favourites with the bookies though, priced at EVENS whereas a Juve win gets you odds of 12/5. Again, we are backing a bet builder here of a home win, BTTS and over 10 match corners, getting you odds of 11/1.
