Warren Bondo Scouting Report 2024/2025 – AC Milan’s New Seedorf-Gattuso Hybrid

Warren Bondo recently joined AC Milan from Monza, signing a contract until June 30, 2029.

The French midfielder replaces Ismaël Bennacer, who left the Rossoneri in the last hours of the winter’s transfer window, moving to Olympique Marseille.

Bondo started his career in 2020 with Nancy.

He then received an offer from Monza and moved to play with them, as they had just been promoted to the Serie A.

His experience at Monza, and more importantly in a tough league like the Serie A, helped him mature and become much stronger in duels, interceptions, and other aspects.

Milan noticed the qualities of the French midfielder.

They did not miss the opportunity to sign him during this winter transfer window, especially following the loss of a reliable midfielder like Bennacer and the availability of only three midfielders with different characteristics:  Tijjani Reijnders, Yunus Musah, and Youssouf Fofana, knowing that Ruben Loftus-Cheek is unavailable at the moment.

Having a player like Bondo in the team adds more depth in midfield and guarantees quality, especially when Fofana or Reijnders need some rest.

He has similar attributes to Fofana, especially in terms of interceptions, marking, covering, and starting the attacking actions from defence.

At the same time, he has the agility and pace needed to advance with the ball and make key passes to his teammates when the team is in possession, so he can also do well as a substitute for Reijnders.

Bondo is a central midfielder who does not really have the abilities of a pure playmaker from the back, as his vertical passes and vision are not his most remarkable talents.

In fact, Bondo is the player to rely on for interceptions, defensive duties and ball protection, knowing that his passing accuracy is also very high.

This is mainly because Bondo usually prefers to opt for the safest passes, which is not a weakness but something that counts neither for Bondo nor against him.

This ability to always provide accurate passes makes Bondo a very valuable midfield player, especially if we link this to the fact that he usually protects the ball well and rarely loses it to the opponent.
