Jayden Addai is a Dutch U21 international playing for Como.
Addai has been putting on remarkable performances this season under the emerging, talented head coach, Cesc Fàbregas.
The left-footed winger joined Como from AZ Alkmaar, where he had spent nine years, joining the youth team in 2016 and playing with various teams before joining Jong AZ, the reserve team, and progressing to the first team in 2023.
FC Como 1907’s management were quick to notice his talent and sign him before other big teams became interested in his services.
So far, the signing of Addai has not disappointed, as Fàbregas has known how to integrate him progressively and help him perform well despite the striking differences between the Eredivisie and Serie A.
In this Jayden Addai scout report, we will focus on his profile, possible positions and roles with FC Como, and his strengths and weaknesses.
The analysis will shed light on his playmaking, passing, and goal-scoring attributes, with remarks on what he can improve to become an even more complete and consistent attacking player in a complex league like Serie A.
Jayden Addai Style Of Play & Possible Positions At Como
Addai proved in previous seasons that he can play in various attacking and midfield positions, including right winger, advanced playmaker, striker, right wing-back, and right midfielder.
Over the last few seasons, he has been used in these positions and has performed well in most of them, with varying degrees of success.
Even though he has not been exploited on the left wing, his ability to use both feet in shooting and passing makes him a player who can also be used on that side with efficiency.
In terms of roles, Addai has mainly been used as a right winger in Fàbregas’ 4-2-3-1 system, playing various roles related to the team’s attacking phase.
As a right winger, Addai has been responsible for cutting inside or running near the touchline, then penetrating internally when possible, or opting for crossing/passing.
His diversity of solutions in the opponent’s half and the combination of physical strength and agility make Addai extremely dangerous against Serie A teams’ defences, especially in one-on-one duels.
According to his numbers this season so far, Addai has been able to dribble successfully with an average of 55.3%, attempting 5.89 dribbles per match.
This average can be significantly increased, especially if Addai keeps his dribbling unpredictable and works harder to improve his handling of numerical superiority in duels.
In fact, as Addai’s performances continue to be more remarkable and noticeable, Serie A teams will progressively apply tighter marking on him and eventually adopt systematic double marking.
This would limit Addai’s margin of chance creation as well as his ability to penetrate towards the box.
To avoid this, Addai should focus on anticipating numerical superiority and practice dribbling past two or three players in tight spaces on the wing.
Against Napoli, for instance, all of Leonardo Spinazzola, Miguel Gutiérrez, and Scott McTominay were aggressive and decisive in their duels against Addai, since they already knew that he is the type of player who should not be given space or time to dribble.
So, by closing him down and applying tight marking plus coverage from one of the midfielders, Addai’s attacking addition was relatively impacted.
To be more useful and impactful against teams that defend this way, it would be very helpful for Como to ensure that Nico Paz and one of the central midfielders, or the striker, get closer to him more regularly to facilitate passing combinations.
Having players close to Addai would help him get out of difficult situations and avoid losing duels inside the final third.
Furthermore, exploiting Addais dribbling talent and adding Pazs creativity in passing and dribbling would make Como very dangerous upfront.
That’s why the idea of keeping these players close to each other in the final third would create issues for opposing defences, as the duo will be able to resist attempts at numerical superiority through one-two passes and dribbling.
According to his pizza chart from last season, which compares Jayden Addais performance for Jong AZ to other players in his position from leagues of a similar level, Addai’s numbers were outstanding relative to the level, as he was instrumental in goal contributions, dribbling, and shooting.

However, his passing statistics were not as convincing as his goalscoring and shooting statistics, with 4 assists in 36 games and an overall average of dangerous passes.
Therefore, key passing and the ability to provide vertical passes in a more regular, and especially more dangerous, way are aspects Addai needs to improve if he wants to guarantee a starting spot at Como in the coming period, as competition for regular spots is always fierce.
