Many of Europe’s biggest leagues are already well underway this season, with many of them having already played a handful of games as normality is restored to the world of football across the continent.
Indeed, there are still a number of outliers that seem incredibly difficult to believe at the moment, however that is the game that we all love and why so many continue to look to find a sportsbook that has managed to make a brand reputation for themselves as providing them with the very best offers possible.
An article by ESPN with their By The Numbers feature has managed to provide the lowdown on a number of stats that occurred throughout the weekend in various leagues around Europe, with the Premier League, Spain’s La Liga, France’s Ligue 1, Italy’s Serie A and Germany’s Bundesliga all featuring a number of impressive feats.
We have listed a couple of them below, but it is certainly worth checking out the article that they have managed to compile as they have a comprehensive list, with some of them certainly eye-catching.
Premier League
For the first time since the Premier League was created as it is known today, Tottenham Hotspur have managed to take the top position whilst fierce rivals Arsenal have ended up at the bottom. This is one stat that is unlikely to happen ever again, though.
In addition, Tottenham have won its opening 3 games by 1-0, while Wolverhampton Wanderers have lost its first 3 PL games by 0-1. This is the first time both have happened in a single season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has managed to record history for Manchester United as the Red Devils are now unbeaten in their last 28 PL away games (W18 D10) — a new record for the longest unbeaten away run in English Football League history.
Chris Wood managed to score Burnley’s sole goal against Leeds United in a game that ended 1-1 but his effort was also the 30,000th goal to have been scored in Premier League history!
La Liga
After Memphis Depay & Frenkie de Jong combined to score, it became the first La Liga goal to be scored and assisted by a Dutch player since March 2009, when Klass Jan-Huntelaar and Arjen Robben combined for Real Madrid. Additionally, it was the first time Barcelona had managed to do it since January 2004, when Patrick Kluivert and Giovani Van Bronckhorst combined.
Bundesliga
Robert Lewandowski’s hat-trick in Bayern Munich’s 5-0 win over Hertha Berlin meant he passed the 300-goal mark for the club across all competitions, whilst it equalled Bayern Munich’s club record of 16 straight games with a goal as well as being the 3rd straight season that Lewandowski has scored at least one hat trick within the first 3 league games.
