Premier League 2020/21 Golden Boot contenders
The 2020/21 edition of the Premier League may have already got underway, however has it provided us with a hint as to who could potentially be crowned the Golden Boot winner at the end of the season?
Maybe, although we are only a couple of games into what will ultimately be a rather long and challenging season for many of those superstar players will be considered to be amongst the favourites to win the accolade.
Indeed, bettors will be looking for free betting tips on this particular market and we have managed to compile a list as to who we think could be in-and-around the top of the charts once the 2020/21 season reaches its conclusion.
Having already bagged three goals in his first two Premier League outings so far this season with a hat-trick in the opener against Leeds United, Mohamed Salah will have be considered a strong favourite for the Golden Boot. Almost a guaranteed starter for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side, the Egyptian has continued to be at the top of the goalscoring charts since his return to the English league.
Another player who has continuously been in the conversation as a Golden Boot winner, Piere-Emerick Aubameyang’s goals this season may have even more attached to them than they have in previous years. Arsenal will be desperate to see their starman perform to the best of his ability after signing a new deal and take Mikel Arteta’s side back into the top-four, or even finish within the top-six after a disappointing campaign last time out.
Tottenham Hotspur might have already blown hot-and-cold this season, despite being just two games in, however Harry Kane has looked as good as he usually does. He got himself off the mark against Southampton in terms of his own goalscoring tally, but he looked exceptional with his playmaking skills. He has proven he can score goals for fun, although he will need a season where he is fully-fit, otherwise he could be left behind his competitors in the race for the award.
Sadio Mane has perhaps become the most important player within Klopp’s Liverpool side and the Senegal international continued his fine start to the season with two goals against Chelsea. The forward hit the target 18 times in the previous campaign, but if he were to prove more selfish, then that number could easily be eclipsed.
Sergio Aguero can never be a name to be left out of a top goalscorer list and the race for the 2020/21 Premier League Golden Boot will be no different. The Argentine has been lethal for Manchester City ever since touching down in England and Pep Guardiola will want to see his star forward hit top-form as they look to topple Liverpool from their perch. Like Kane, though, it could only happen if he stays fit.
Last season’s Golden Boot winner, Jamie Vardy, has already opened his account this season with two goals in his first two games, but it could be incredibly difficult to see the 33-year-old retain his title. Nonetheless, with the way Brendan Rodgers sets up his Leicester City side, there is no reason the experienced forward can not be near the top once again.
One of the newest additions to the Premier League, Timo Werner certainly has the opportunity to lead the goalscoring charts. Although he is yet to register one for the Blues this season, the Germany international managed to bag 28 goals in the Bundesliga for Red Bull Leipzig prior to his move and his pace will suit the style of game played in England. The first season might be too much for Werner, but he looked solid against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League and there will be some encouragement that he can do it on a weekly basis.
