According to the latest analytic data provided by CIES Football Observatory, Manchester City have the most valuable player that currently plays their football in Europe’s top five leagues.
Although only the top five leagues on the continent have been provided, it would also be easy to argue that they are then considered the most valuable player in the world, but that metric has not been used.
The player that has been given that crowning achievement? Phil Foden.
The 21-year-old is an exceptional talent and continues to show that there is no limit to what he can do despite his young age, which in turn has had many that are considering to bet on the upcoming 2020 UEFA European Championships via a list of betting sites including the UK bookmakers that will be hoping Foden will give England the best chance of finally capturing glory in the tournament.
Foden was recently named the PFA Young Player of the Year and was a key member of Pep Guardiola’s team that managed to win the Premier League title and reach the UEFA Champions League final at the end of last month. He had a breakthrough year in the 2020/21 season, as he managed to net 18 goals.
And, with the world his oyster, it appears that he has it all when it comes down to football, as he is valued at a higher rate than those that continue to be thrown in the mix as some of the best players in the world.
Of course, there are a number of different factors that are used to try and work out the player’s value to a club and why they are given a certain value, with the CIES team using analytic data following certain criteria such as age, book value, competition level, results, achievements, performance, experience, international status, contract and the position that they play in. Some of the factors that we will take a look at here on Total Football Analysis, as well.
Indeed, when this particular set of criteria is utilised, it perhaps does not come as too big of a surprise considering how important Foden is to Manchester City and Pep Guardiola.
The City midfielder/attacker is valued at £164.4 million and beats out Manchester United and England colleagues, Mason Greenwood (£153 million) and Marcus Rashford (£137 million) to top spot.
Manchester United also have Bruno Fernandes featuring in the top 10 of this list with a value of £132 million, whilst Mason Mount of Chelsea – who is valued at £106.1 million – completes the top 10 of players who are currently playing in the Premier League.
Borussia Dortmund’s sensation, Erling Braut Haaland comes fourth with a value of £134 million, whereas Frenkie de Jong (£119 million), Pedri (£114 million), Alphonso Davies (£113 million) and Joao Felix (£110 million) complete the list.
