Manchester City vs Southampton Prediction: Premier League Saturday Match Preview from 22BET

Southampton will be hoping to bounce back from the chastening 9-0 defeat at home to Leicester City on Saturday when they travel to the Etihad to face Premier League champions Manchester City.

New site for online betting in UK 22BET offer their take on what might take place during the match.

The Saints dropped into the relegation zone as a result of the loss and coach Ralph Hassenhuttl will now be demanding a response from his team.

Manchester City had the far more routine outing last weekend and beat a gutsy Aston Villa 3-0.

City have already slipped up a couple of times this season but remain one of the best in the Premier League when on top form and will hope to start chasing down league leaders Liverpool with a win.

Team news

Leroy Sane and Aymeric Laporte are still unavailable for City manager Pep Guardiola, who is also missing left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Centre back John Stones did make his return last week, but stand in centre back Rodri is now out injured with a hamstring issue.

Ryan Bertrand is suspended for Southampton following his red card against Leicester while Cedric Soares is still out.

Sam McQueen is also absent, as is Moussa Djenepo.

Prediction

Southampton are playing Manchester City at just about the worst possible time, considering the state that the squad’s confidence must be in, but nothing would give them a boost like a good performance against the Premier League champions.

City haven’t been quite as all-conquering as we have come to expect under Guardiola this season but can still turn on the style on occasion as Watford found out recently.

With Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and David Silva all fit and firing, the Saints will be set for a tough afternoon, but in Danny Ings and Nathan Redmond, they still pose a threat of their own.

Southampton has the potential to put in an improved performance on that seen against Leicester, but City is more likely to turn out too strong and finish with rather impressive scores. A result of 2-0 or 3-0 is more likely than others.
