We all know the cliche in football that the game is of two halves, but Manchester United and their fans might just be all too happy that it rings true for them this season.
The Red Devils might be sitting second in the Premier League, but it has undoubtedly been their ability to grow into games in the second half that has allowed them to recover at times and ensure they eventually take all three points that can be on offer.
Indeed, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s side have form for starting off slowly, and it appears to have become somewhat a bit of a habit that many connected with the football club will be hoping does not continue for too much longer. Or maybe they are if it means they continue to put points on the board? We all know football can be a funny game at times.
One thing that they will be thankful for, though, is that matches last 90 minutes and do not end after the 45-minute mark, otherwise they could be looking at a seriously different league table and one that would leave many feeling as though they are in a spot of bother. Maybe with his luck, Solskjaer might want to use allvideoslots live in Norway when he is home and with his family?
The Red Devils have only lead at the half-time interval on seven occasions this season when playing a Premier League match, meaning that they would have been collected just 38 points from the 31 that has been played so far this season. They have only been behind seven times, though, but with 17 draws making up the rest of the figures, you can see it takes them around an hour or more to get going.
The Sun compiled a Premier League table that looked at where each of the teams would rank if the matches played all finished at half-time and, unsurprisingly, Manchester City continue to lead the way on that front as well. The Citizens would have won 18 of the 32 played, whilst just losing four.
West Ham United have surprised everyone this season and would only have lost four as well, but sit behind Tottenham Hotspur in the table after 31, with Spurs having 16 wins to the Hammers’ 13. And yet, Jose Mourinho is still criticised. Oh, Tottenham can’t hold on to leads, can they?
Chelsea rounds out the top four with a total of 52 points so far, but Everton are six behind with two games in hand, although their recent performance against Brighton and Hove Albion would not have instilled any confidence.
Unsurprisingly, Sheffield United sit bottom with just two leads at half-time, with Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion also in the bottom three after the first 45 minutes of a Premier League game.
At least Manchester United remain above one long-time rival in Arsenal, right?
