Serie A 2020/21: Atalanta vs Inter - tactical analysis tactics

Future Serie A Stars: Gianluca Scamacca

Sassuolo’s Gianluca Scamacca has embarked upon plenty of loan spells during his short career. The striker has spent time at PEC Zwolle, Cremonese, Ascoli and he’s currently plying his trade in the Italian top flight at Genoa. Although the Liguria-based side have made an underwhelming start to the 2020-21 campaign, the 21-year old has already made quite an impression at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium.

Having been previously linked with a move to Southampton, and having also been reportedly scouted by AC Milan, there has been plenty of hype surrounding the powerful forward over the last twelve months, and he now appears to be finally justifying that fanfare. He’s played just 363 minutes across all competitions so far, and he’s already found the net three times including against Sampdoria and Torino.

Heading is undoubtedly one of his greatest attributes, and only one Genoa player, Mattia Bani, has won more aerials duels so far this season. Although he is a powerful presence in the opposition’s box, Scamacca is also adept with the ball at his feet, and his delightful through ball enabled Marko Pjaca to fire home an equaliser against Roma on November 8th. In the same contest, he seamlessly glided past a handful of Giallorossi players before spraying a stylish cross-field ball to a team-mate.

Although it is still early days for the on-loan striker, many Serie A fans have acknowledged that the striker is surely destined for big things. He has been tentatively compared to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and he does possess a similar elasticity to the iconic Swede. Despite being previously deployed as a lone striker, Scamacca is far more effective with another striker playing alongside him. His game relies on instinct, and placing another attack-minded player in close proximity to the powerful finisher is hugely beneficial. His natural ability sets him apart from the majority of his contemporaries, and he has previously shone at the Under-20 World Cup. Although the Azzurri crashed out at the semi-final stage, the forward put in an eye-catching performance and was unfortunate to see his superb injury-time strike ruled out by VAR.

Having hit the ground running in the Italian top flight, football fans and bettors will be keen to follow the progress of the lofty hitman over the coming months. He is likely to be well-backed in the anytime goalscorer market, and with an ever-increasing pool of online sportsbooks to choose from, punters are now able to shop around in order to unearth the best odds on the striker to continue his excellent run of form. There are a number of sites that enable users to hunt around for the best possible price, while other industries have also seen the benefits of this approach with insurance comparison sites having gone from strength-to-strength in recent years as more and more people realise they can save money by using them. Online casino reviews are also an extremely useful tool for helping players to find the best possible gaming sites, and this allows potential customers to find a service that suits their needs, as well as looking around for the best deals available.

Scamacca may still be a little rough around the edges, however, he is clearly thriving under the experienced Rolando Maran. His side have been struggling to pick up results, but they’ve already faced Napoli, Roma and Inter in their opening seven fixtures. With a number of easier-looking games on the horizon, the loanee is expected to play an important role in helping his side to climb out of the relegation zone. The striker is one of Italian football’s brightest young talents, and his recent performances at the Marassi point to an extremely bright future at the highest level.
