Paris Saint Germain beat Le Havre 5-1 in Ligue 1 on Friday 30 October, recovering from an early deficit in Le Havre to make it six wins in a row in all competitions. Le Havre are still without a league win after nine matches.

Hakimi’s 71 minutes on the Normandy coast

The hosts struck first. Maja scored in the 18th minute, with Fofana providing the assist.

That lead lasted eight minutes. Godts equalised in the 26th minute from a Hakimi pass, and two minutes later Hakimi put the visitors in front himself, converting Senny Mayulu’s assist in a goal that VAR confirmed. Le Havre went in 2-1 down at half-time.

The second half belonged to the Paris Saint Germain right side. Hakimi added his second in the 55th minute, turned provider for Mayulu in the 62nd and completed his hat-trick in the 69th. Three goals and two assists in 71 minutes earned him a rating of 9.11, the highest on the pitch. Mayulu, with a goal and an assist, was rated 8.65, while Godts received 8.2. Maja, on 7.94, was the best of the home side.

777 passes against 301

Luis Enrique’s side had 71% of the ball and completed 710 of their 777 passes. Le Havre attempted 301 in total.

The shot count was far closer, at 15 to 14 in the visitors’ favour, and Didier Digard’s team produced expected goals of 1.91 against 3.13. Accuracy separated them. Paris Saint Germain put 10 efforts on target to Le Havre’s 5, and Bodart made 5 saves while Safonov, rated 7.51, made 4 at the other end. Referee François Letexier did not show a single card.

Four points clear at the top, Le Havre stuck on 2

Paris Saint Germain are first with 20 points from 9 games and a goal difference of 11, four points ahead of Rennes. Lille and Monaco, both on 15, have a game in hand.

Le Havre are 18th with 2 points from a record of 0-2-7. This was a fifth straight league defeat, following a 4-3 loss to Marseille in their previous outing, and Estac Troyes sit 3 points above them having played one game fewer.

The fixture offered little respite either. Paris Saint Germain are now unbeaten in six meetings with Le Havre, winning five, and the only draw in that run was a 3-3 on 27 April 2024.

The leaders travel to Villarreal in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday 3 November. Le Havre host Lorient on Sunday 8 November.
