Belgium faced Russia last night in their Group B encounter in Saint Petersburg, where the Red Devils were able to rack up a comfortable 3-0 win. Belgium came into the match with a couple of injury concerns, as both Eden Hazard and Kevin de Bruyne did not make the starting XI, while they suffered further issues in the match itself, when Timothy Castagne suffered a suspected broken eye socket, similar to De Bruyne’s injury, in the first half. Nevertheless, they were able to make short work of Russia, with Romelu Lukaku scoring the opening goal inside 10 minutes and Castagne’s replacement, Thomas Meunier, finding the net a little before half-time as well. Lukaku finished things off with his second goal of the match in the 88th minute, and thus Belgium began their EURO 2020 campaign in comfortable fashion.
