UEFA Euro 2024 Player To Watch: Johan Bakayoko Scout Report At PSV – Group E

Last summer, the football world was abuzz with rumours of Johan Bakayoko‘s potential move to the Premier League from PSV.

As the 21-year-old prepares for another summer transfer window, his performance in the upcoming Euros with Belgium will undoubtedly be a key factor in shaping his future.

In Group E, where he will face off against Ukraine, Slovakia, and Romania, Bakayoko will have a prime opportunity to showcase his skills and attract potential suitors.

The visualisation below shows where the PSV forward ranks for some key metrics compared with right-sided attacking midfielders from tier 1, 2 and 3 leagues per our in-house league ranking system, with Eredivisie falling in the second tier.

bakayoko 2324Bakayoko has been with PSV for several seasons now and has gradually risen to become a key player.

This season, he is among the top five outfield players in the Dutch club for minutes played.

A left-footed right-sided player, Bakayoko has the second-most goals for PSV this season, with 12 goals to his name at the time of writing.

This is more than double his tally from last season, which was five goals in the league.

He is very dangerous with the ball on his feet, ranking very high for Dribbles per 90 minutes and dangerous passes per 90 minutes; this is evident in the fact that he creates goalscoring chances quite often for his teammates, with nine assists to his name in 2023/24.

Bakayoko’s electric pace with the ball at his feet makes him dangerous in counterattacking situations, and his unpredictability in the final third makes him ideal for any style of play.

As part of Belgium’s promising new generation of players, Johan Bakayoko is poised to make a significant impact at the Euros.

Having proven his abilities in the Belgian youth teams, he is ready to lead the charge and dispel any doubts about the team’s potential.

Bakayoko is undoubtedly one of the players to watch from Group E, and his performance will be crucial in Belgium’s journey to the latter stages of the tournament.
