Peterborough United had one of the most heartbreaking ends to a season in 2022/23 after losing the playoffs despite going into the second leg of the semifinals with a four-goal advantage.
So it was important that they started this season without the hangover and, most importantly, on track to try to win promotion this time around.
Currently in fifth place—five points behind leaders Portsmouth—Peterborough has had a decent start to the 23/24 season, and the star of the show so far is 22-year-old Kwame Poku.

Poku has already equalled his tally from last season.
Playing as an attacking midfielder, Poku’s numbers look excellent – ranking above average and among the top 20% of midfielders in several key metrics.
The Ghana international’s biggest strength is to progress the ball through the middle — ranking 83rd percentile for progressive passes per 90 minutes.
Defensively, he is also unusually strong aerially for someone of his height and wins aerial duels more often than not.
Peterborough United have been away from the Championship for two consecutive seasons now and will definitely be looking to return to England’s second division next season.
If they are to do that, Kwame Poku has to continue his form in front of goal as well in other areas of the pitch.
