Hertha Berlin aren’t having the best of seasons this term. It has been clogged with instability and internal politics that hasn’t allowed any consistency to settle in. They are in a relegation battle with sites like bettingsites.ng/betting-sites tipping them to go down. But that hasn’t stopped some players from impressing and raising eyebrows. Young Javairo Dilrosun is certainly one of those players.
A product of the Manchester City youth academy, Dilrosun had joined Hertha from the Citizens in the summer of 2018 on a free transfer. He had failed to break into the club’s first-team and the move came as a result of that. It was meant to hand him the reinvigoration of move forward.
His breakout at Hertha came swiftly though. Dilrosun played only four games for the Reserves side, but the young Dutchman went onto make 17 appearances for the first-team. The campaign saw him score two goals and pick up four assists as well.
This season was meant to be even better for him. And signs are that it has been better too. In 18 games in the Bundesliga, Dilrosun has scored three goals and has assisted twice. While that is less than last season, but the circumstances this season have been different. Because of that, Dilrosun’s contributions have been much more vital than last season.
The campaign has seen him complete two dribbles per game and more than that per 90 minutes. His key passing is at 0.6 per game but the fact that he has an XA per 90 of 0.13 is a good sign. His key passing may not suggest that but 0.13 as an XA per 90 is not bad for a winger who is still 21.
Dilrosun is an accurate dribbler and thrives on having more of the ball. This leads to him having a passing accuracy of an impressive 73.5 percent. It is proof of how he can be fearsome on his day and when on song is tough to stop.
He creates less than one chance per game and that, obviously is something he would need to improve upon. In an interview that he gave to Voetbal international (via TribalFootball) some months ago, Dilrosun’s words made it clear that he is a player who likes to learn and improve.
On former City boss Pep Guardiola, he said: “I learned a lot from him in the field of tactics and technology. How to take free-kicks, how best to use my speed, how to best defend against the opponent’s defence … Pep is truly one of the best trainers in the world.”
The 21-year-old hasn’t just come through City, but he also played for the Ajax youth team in the past. Considering the success rate they have and the mechanism they have in place, Dilrosun could have the tenacity to make it big soon enough.
As per Wyscout, Dilrosun has lost the ball 10 times per 90 minutes this season. That isn’t a good sign but he has recovered the ball a little over three times per 90 minutes too. It shows that he has the hunger to counter-press when he loses the ball. At 21, his ability to make better use of the ball will only improve with time.
Being left-footed on the left flank does pose a challenge of its own. But Dilrosun has shown that he is well capable of mounting that. Considering the emphasis he’s getting at the club, the only way forward is up.
