Sports Can Make You A Better Student

Students who are not involved in physical activities receive lower grades in science than students who practice sports up to six days a week.

According to experts, students between the ages of 14 and 18 should exercise at least three times a week in order to strengthen their muscles and bones. However, according to an analysis of data from Health Behavior in School-Aged Children (HBSC), most teenagers do not keep the recommended level of exercise.

We understand, you are tired and you have no intention of increasing that fatigue by running. But once you know the 5 benefits that sports have for students, you will not hesitate for a moment.

1) Improve physical endurance

Next time you have a long day studying, you will notice how your body begins to resist the workload and stress the studying brings. It is not necessary to make great efforts. Simple exercises at home will also do. After exercising for a few days, you will see the results.

2) Regulates blood pressure

Your heart pumps blood to all arteries while doing so, the blood exerts pressure against the walls of the arteries, which is necessary to obtain a good circulation and to carry the oxygen and the necessary nutrients to all the organs of the body.

When you are studying, trying to direct all the concentration that your body is able to offer towards the book in front of you and asking your brain to stay tuned, you need to have stable blood pressure.

3) Improve flexibility

You will not become the elastic man, but without a doubt, the fact that the exercise improves the flexibility and mobility of the joints is more than beneficial for you.

Do you feel that everything hurts after a long night of study? Nothing guarantees that the sport will make these discomforts go away, but it can certainly help it not to be so serious.

4) It puts you alert

The endorphins produced after exercising are responsible for putting you on alert and allowing you a higher level of concentration. Therefore, choosing to run or walk before studying can be an excellent idea.

5) It relaxes you

Also, because of the endorphins produced, the sport has the characteristic of offering relaxation and satisfaction to those who practice it. This is essential if you want to avoid stress, so choosing a sport to have an activity that allows you to forget for a moment studying during exams does not seem like a bad idea.

Exercising regularly is an excellent method of improving health and preventing getting sick. With both physical and psychological benefits, it is an extremely good activity for everybody.

So how can sport help you become a better student?

–  It helps to have more energy, releases toxins, improves posture… Exercise is one of the best activities for students!

– Students can find dozens of advantages in the practice of some sport.

– Incorporating sports activities into the daily routine can be an excellent way to beat a sedentary lifestyle during exams.

Researchers at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies have shown that regular aerobic training leads to an increase in the size of the hypothalamus and cerebral cortex, responsible for verbal memory and the ability to learn and absorb new information.

Interestingly, strength training does not have a similar effect on the brain. The most important parameters are an increased heart rate and increased blood circulation, and the performance of strength exercises affects them significantly less.

A couple of years ago, scientists watched a group of older people who worked exclusively with weights. After a year, it turned out that their cognitive abilities improved.

How to get the most out of sport for college students?

Sport helps students not only improve their physical condition but also helps to ventilate their head after a hard day at the university. In order to improve your academic performance, you need not only to study day and night but also to find time for relaxation, that will be useful to your body and brain. After playing sports, verbal memory improves and students are able to remember more words. The results of visuospatial memory are less conclusive since they do not show large differences between students who walk and run. It is worth remembering that sport is not a panacea for all occasions, but it definitely positively affects your mental abilities.

The issue of the influence of physical activity on the thinking process is not fully understood. Scientists will collect information on this subject and conduct various experiments for many more years. We will closely monitor scientific activities, as this issue in the field of sports and education is one of the most pressing today.
