It’s not often that you can say, “it’s good to be a Tottenham fan,” but there’s every chance we might just be saying that next season. After a shaky start to Conte’s tenure as Spurs boss, the North London club have begun to hit some momentum. Indeed, Spurs’ development might just prompt some people to consider using a free bet offer from sites such as oddschecker to back the side for Premier League glory. Of course, much will have to happen for that to be the case. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at Spurs’ chances for the forthcoming 2022/23 season.

Conte Has History

Tottenham are trying to do something they’ve never done before: come out on top in a league that is extremely competitive. That’ll take a lot of work and probably a fair amount of fortune, too. However, if there’s one reason why Spurs might be quietly confident, it’s because the man they have in the dugout has experience of taking teams to glory at the top of the table.

It’s easy to forget how bad Chelsea were when Conte took over. Yet he somehow managed to take a side that had finished 10th the previous season to the top of the table. And they didn’t just win the league; they finished with one of the highest points totals in the history of the league.

Of course, Tottenham aren’t Chelsea. The West London team already had the experience of winning titles, whereas Spurs do not. But Conte has shown that he has what it takes to take a team to new heights. So they’ll have at least one believer in their camp.

And His Vision is in Place

Another reason for Spurs fans to be hopeful: Tottenham seem to have gotten used to Conte’s demands. It’s incredible to think that people were questioning the appointment back in the new year. He had only been in the job for a couple of months, and his tactics and methods had not yet taken hold. But now, they have. Spurs are playing like a team that understand the assignment.

It took Klopp several years to get his vision in place. It’s only taken Conte a matter of months. Of course, Conte’s flame does burn bright but fast, but even that should be good news for Spurs supporters. We might be able to witness the brilliant chaos of a Conte championship-winning season, before the lights go out and everything unravels.

Alessandro Bastoni and Ivan Perisic

Spurs will have to do better than last season if they want to make it a successful year. And one way they hope to do that is by adding Alessandro Bastoni and Ivan Perisic to the team. These are the two players that Spurs have been chasing for a while, so they will be delighted that they have them on board. Bastoni will sit at the back while Perisic will play out on the right. Both players have come with a big reputation, and they’re exactly the kinds of players that Conte likes.

…Plus Kane and Son

Now that Spurs didn’t already have some great players already. Kane and Son have been working magic for a few seasons now, and it’s becoming standard that they turn in outstanding performances each week. They’re both in the prime of their career and have always stepped up in leadership positions too. You have a feeling that if Spurs are competing for the title, it’ll be because of the big performances from these two. Spurs’ problems in recent times has been failing to see out games; they were always scoring. With the arrival of Bastoni and Perisic, they’ll hope that they’ll have the defensive cover to protect Kane’s and Son’s goals and go for victory.

Liverpool and Manchester City

We spoke earlier about how much momentum there is behind Spurs at the moment. But there’s a bit of a problem that they’ll have to encounter at one stage or another: Manchester City and Liverpool. These two sides have been far and away the best two teams in Europe in recent years. From the outside, overcoming the two north-west teams seems to be an impossible challenge.

But maybe there are a few chinks in the armor that Spurs can take advantage of. Liverpool have lost Mane, for starters, so they’ll be weaker, plus the emotional strain of last year’s journey and disappointment might take a toll. Manchester City will be changing their system to accommodate Haaland; maybe that takes more than a few games to click into place? OK, this is amounting to clutching at straws because, in truth, you have to expect Liverpool and Manchester City to maintain their exceedingly high standards.

However, you never know in the football world. If they slip, Spurs might just well be in a position to take advantage.

What Should Spurs Hope For?

So what exactly should Spurs be hoping for from the forthcoming season? You have to imagine that, in the boardroom, they’re expecting a Champions League place at a minimum. But there will also be some discussion about making a play for the Premier League title. They may not expect to win it, but they could expect to at least challenge. If they do that, then Conte, the players, and the fans will have to be happy — teams rarely win the league at the first time of asking. They usually have to get a couple of false starts out of the way first. If they can rustle some feathers, then they’ll know they’re on the right track.

Final Thoughts

Spurs fans will be excited for the new season to get underway. With the arrival of some new players, plus their big players also promising to be there next season, there’s every chance that the team will hit new heights. As always, we should expect that Spurs will, at the very least, entertain us throughout the year. Normally that’s because of some failure on their behalf, but this could be the year when they really electrify the Premier League. We wait and see.
