The start of the new domestic seasons across Europe’s big leagues is not too far away, with most kicking off during the first week of August. The upcoming 2022/23 campaign promises to be just as exciting as the previous season, with many questions yet to be answered.
Can Bayern add a historic eleventh title in a row or will Dortmund finally knock them off their perch? Can AC Milan make it two in a row after winning their first title in over ten years? Will Real Madrid once again reign supreme in Spain or Xavi’s Barcelona overthrow their bitter rivals?
All will be revealed in due course, but for now, Total Football Analysis have taken a look at the early odds you can get on who will win the title in each of Europe’s big leagues. Read on to see our early odds Bundesliga preview…
Bundesliga Early Title Odds
With Bayern Munich reigning supreme for the tenth season in a row last term, it’s hard for the bookies to look past them to retain their crown. They’ve had a stronghold on German football for decades now thanks to the controversial way TV money is shared between the clubs, as well as some smart commercial moves by the clubs’ hierarchy ensuring they continue to grow their global presence.
This financial advantage also means they can cherry-pick the best players in the division, as has been evidenced by the various signings from the division’s second-best team, Borussia Dortmund over the years. Bayern are of course heavy favourites to make it eleven in a row, with odds of 1/ 5.
Dortmund are often the only real ‘challengers’ to finishing second more often than not, but are always way off the points tally of Bayern. That is reflected in the odds with the Black and Yellows coming in at 7/1. RB Leipzig have performed well over the last few seasons and they are seen as the only other realistic possibility of knocking Bayern off their perch at 11/1.
Serie A Early Title Odds
AC Milan pipped their bitter rivals Inter to the post last term after a thrilling race that went right down to the wire. Zlatan Ibrahimovic and co brought home their first Serie A trophy in ten years, ending a low point in history for the once-great club.
However, the bookies clearly think Inter will have revenge on their minds for 2022/23, as they are favourites to take the scudetto back from their neighbours, priced at 2/1. Juventus are surprise second-favourites at 9/4 after a sub-par campaign last time out, finishing fourth.
AC Milan aren’t too far behind them with odds of 7/2 for them to keep the title, which could be worth a punt given how well they performed last season and Inter’s precarious financial situation. Napoli are the outsiders at 14/1 but you would think they would be happy with securing Champions League football again next year as a title challenge looks beyond them.
La Liga Early Title Odds
Nobody gave Los Blancos much of a chance at the beginning of last season, but the reappointment of Don Carlo looks inspired now after he completed the double, winning La Liga and the Champions League. That has changed the picture this time around, with Real now firm favourites to retain the title at 5/4.
Barcelona meanwhile have undergone something of a rebuilding process under the stewardship of club legend Xavi, who returned to manage his beloved Catalonians during last season. He seems to have improved things after Ronald Koeman’s dismal reign guiding them to a second palace finish. There’s a huge summer transfer window for the club ahead if he is to go one better next season though, but finances could hold them back and that’s why they are second-favourites at 7/4.
Another of Real Madrid’s bitter rivals Atletico Madrid comes in as third favourites at 11/2, with Diego Simone’s defensively robust proving they are more than capable of going all the way, after winning the title back in 2020/21. They are priced at 11/2, while outsiders and last year’s fourth-place finishers Sevilla get you odds of 25/1.
Ligue 1 Early Title Odds
Much like Bayern in Germany, PSG have a stronghold on the French top division, winning eight of the last ten, including last years. Rumours that Zinadine Zidane will be at the helm next year will only strengthen that given his ability to seemingly manage the big egos that currently occupy the PSG dressing room. It should equal even more success and that’s why they are overwhelming favourites for the 2022/23 title at 2/17.
Marseille enjoyed a relatively successful campaign last term, finishing second and given the recent woes of the club fans can be happy with that. Lyon on the other hand endured a very subpar season, finishing all the way back in eighth. However, the bookies have both teams as second-favourites to overthrow PSG, albeit at long odds of 14/1.
Last season’s third-place finishers Monaco are next at odds of 20/1 and those odds are reflective of the fact they keep losing their best players. This summer appears to be no different with star man Aurelien Tchouameni seemingly set to join Real Madrid.
