Champions League 2018/19 Tactical Analysis Preview: Tottenham vs Ajax

The Champions League is the biggest club football tournament in the world and it is, therefore, only fitting that fans should be able to place the biggest bets to match their passion for the game, the teams they support, and the trophy that is at stake.

This season’s competition has really opened up. For the last four years, Real Madrid have dominated the tournament winning it four times in succession. However, this season Real’s fortunes have taken a turn for the worse following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo and the resignation of manager Zinedine Zidane.

Zidane has subsequently returned to resume as manager, but not before Real’s poor form in La Liga meant that they were likely to finish the season in third place, some 12 points adrift of the leaders Barcelona. To add insult to their injury, they were also dumped out of the Champions League by Tottenham Hotspur.

Major upsets

Many people strongly fancied Manchester City to win the Quadruple: the EPL title, the Carabao Cup, the FA Cup, and the Champions League. They were on track, having beaten Chelsea to win the Carabao, but Tottenham beat them in a sensation return match at the Etihad, when Spurs got through on the away goal rule having won the first leg 1-0 and lost the second match 3-4.

Another favourite, the Italian side -Juventus- also went out in the quarterfinals. They lost to Dutch side Ajax by three goals to two on aggregate. It means that the last four to claim places in the semi-finals are Ajax, Barcelona, Liverpool and Tottenham.

Barcelona are current favourites

Barcelona, with Lionel Messi in spectacular form, are firm favourites. But Liverpool who are pushing for the Premier League title – which many pundits believe to be the strongest football league in the world, cannot be written off. Neither, of course, can Spurs, having taken the scalps of both Real Madrid and Manchester City. Ajax are also a side to be reckoned with. All in all, it’s anybody’s competition.

Although Barcelona are the side most likely to win on form, the competition has become a betting person’s dream. The odds range anywhere from 13/8 to 23/5 showing that there is money to be made.

Win big jackpots through pool betting

Some of the biggest jackpots to be had anywhere on the planet can be won through the pool betting system that Colossus Bets offers. Pool betting is all about a number of people buying into a pool. The more people that contribute to the pool, the larger the pay-outs become. Once a player has paid his or her contribution, he/she can bet on the outcome of a particular event or a series of events.

If a punter’s selection comes up, then the bettor wins a proportion of the overall prize fund. If only one person makes the right prediction, he/she scoops the whole jackpot. If more than one person wins, the pot is divided equally between them.

Colossus raise the bar with pool betting

Colossus have taken pool betting to the next level. For example, there are guaranteed jackpots whereby the size of the jackpot is fixed regardless of how many people pay into the pool. They also offer consolation prizes, so if you narrowly miss out, you don’t walk away empty handed.

The other thing Colossus offers is “cash-out.” If your bet relies on a series of results, you can sell the whole ticket or a fraction of it back to Colossus. This enables you to take profit no matter what happens to any outstanding outcomes of the bet.

If you get all of your predictions right, on something like ‘what happens in the rest of the Champions League competition’, you could win big.
