Amalie Vangsgaard Scouting Report: Her Role At Juventus Femminile 2024/25

Amalie Vangsgaard Juventus Femminile Scouting Report

Who Is Amalie Vangsgaard?

Amalie Vangsgaard recently moved to Juventus Femminile, signing a contract with the Bianconere that will last until 2027.

After spending 18 months at Paris Saint-Germain in the D1 Féminine, Vangsgaard decided to embark on a new footballing journey in Serie A Women to enrich an already varied and adventurous career.

The signing shows Juventus desire to reinforce their attacking line with key names to help improve the quality of their attacking play and, therefore, be able to score more goals as they try to end Roma’s Serie A dominance.

Juventus have had a very busy transfer window this summer as they released/sold/loaned out numerous players and signed a lot of important ones as well.

Although selling key names like Lineth Beerensteyn, Amanda Nildén, Julia Grosso, and Sara Björk Gunnarsdóttir might raise some eyebrows, Juventus have been working very hard to replace the leaving players with others having the same if not better traits.

The Bianconere brought the veteran Milan key player Valentina Bergamaschi, Hanna Bennison from Everton, Alisha Lehmann from Aston Villa, Viola Calligaris from PSG.

Juventus have reduced the size of their squad but added a lot of quality, especially in midfield and attack.

Therefore, it will be essential for Vangsgaard to prove herself and her attacking abilities in order to play regularly in a team that already has a powerful and experienced striker like Cristiana Girelli.

That being said, Vangsgaard has the opportunity to impose herself, especially because the team will start the season under the management of a new head coach, Massimiliano Canzi.

Therefore, we can argue that Vangsgaard has equal chances to convince the Italian coach, even though he already played Girelli in the pre-season friendly games.

Vangsgaard was born in Denmark on 29 November 1996 and started her youth career at Jetsmark IF in Pandrup from 2000 to 2008.

In 2008, she moved to Fortuna Hjørring and passed through the youth levels until reaching the senior team in 2014.

Vangsgaard remained at Fortuna Hjørring until 2018, when she had a one-year experience at Ballerup-Skovlunde Fodbold.

Afterwards, a greater opportunity came to Vangsgaard in 2019 as she moved to FC Nordsjælland and impressed a lot of followers of the game thanks to her goalscoring skills and attacking abilities.

She helped them win the Danish Cup in 2020 and finished the 2021 season as the league’s top scorer.

Following her local success, Vangsgaard attracted the attention of foreign teams and signed with Sweden’s Linköping FC, where she continued to develop and attract the attention of the top European teams.

Vangsgaard’s consistent performances eventually led to moving to a top club in early 2023, and this club was PSG.

Although this was her first time playing in the D1 Féminine, Vangsgaard was quite clinical for the French team, winning the Coupe de France with them and succeeding in scoring plenty of goals over a relatively short period.

In this tactical analysis and scout report, we will provide an analysis of Vangsgaards key attacking abilities through footage and statistical analysis.

The article will also focus on identifying Vangsgaard’s possible roles on the pitch and how she can be suitable for Juventus’ tactics.

Amalie Vangsgaard Position & Suitable Tactics At Juventus

Vangsgaard can be considered a modern striker capable of interpreting different roles on the pitch while remaining as impactful and clinical as needed, thanks to her experience, intelligence and abilities.

Being 1.82 m tall represents an advantage for Vangsgaard as it allows her to have more chances to win in aerial duels and be much more powerful in her duels with defenders as well.

Plus, her height makes her a perfect fit for the stationary striker role, which Girelli had been performing previously.

As a striker, Vangsgaard has the intelligence needed to adapt to the team’s and the head coach’s tactical needs; she can move well without the ball inside the box, offering passing options to her teammates and preparing herself for finishing actions.

At the same time, she can often move lean towards both wings, receive passes and provide crosses or passes from both sides.

Apart from being a goalscorer, she can be a reliable playmaker within the team if the coaching staff works with her further on this aspect.

She has already proven that she can provide key passes using both feet.

An alternative idea for Juventus’ attack would be to use both Girelli and Vangsgaard as an attacking duo even though both of them have similar physical shape and master almost the same roles inside the box.

Nevertheless, Juventus’ attack would be much more dangerous with two clinical strikers, and the head coach would have to specify different yet complementary roles for both.

For instance, it would be much more useful to use Vangsgaard as a second striker who runs more with the ball, moves a lot in and outside the box and provides more passes than the main striker.

Vangsgaard can be more agile and quicker than Girelli with the ball, while the latter can be more useful when she remains inside the box to receive crosses and block defenders.

Moreover, it should be mentioned that Vangsgaard has experience playing as a right-winger and can be used there when needed.

Amalie Vangsgaard Goalscoring Ability & Finishing Techniques

The most appropriate word to describe Vangsgaard’s goalscoring traits is unpredictable.

She is mainly unpredictable because she often changes her finishing style, and goalkeepers can hardly expect her next move.

Since she can score using headers, volleys, half-volleys, shots from distance and more, Vangsgaard often has the advantage on goalkeepers even when she seems at a disadvantage.

The following goal action highlights her ability to sense goals and exploit half-chances, thanks to her excellent vision, well-timed decision-making, and accurate shooting techniques.

In this action, she was running with the ball during a counterattack and saw the goalkeeper a little bit out of her goal while the striker was not even inside the final third.

As a result, she immediately attempted a powerful shot from distance without hesitation, scoring a magnificent goal that proves her goalscoring instinct.

Amalie Vangsgaard Scouting Report At Juventus Femminile 2024/25 - Analysis

With an average of 0.51 goals per game, 3.25 shots per match, and an xG of 0.49, we can argue that Vangsgaard can improve her numbers even further at Juventus to become a world-class striker.

That being said, we cannot overlook the fact that this player can score using various techniques, such as diving headers, which tell us a lot about her winning mentality and desire to win, even when putting herself in danger.
