Just as they are in the UEFA Champions League, England is represented incredibly well when it comes down to having teams competing in the various European club competitions that are available to participate in.
Of course, the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool are all currently gracing the elite tournament, however West Ham United, Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur are also all going on their own European adventures on what would seem a near-weekly basis.
Of course, there is the potential for each of them to be at a disadvantage when competing in the UEFA Europa League and the newly-formed UEFA European Conference League as each of these match days typically fall on a Thursday (Leicester has managed to play a game on a Wednesday, though).
This is a concern for many as it means they will only have a few days before they have to take to the field once again and compete in the Premier League, however with positives, the negatives will simply have to be taken.
How, though, will West Ham, Leicester and Tottenham get on in their quest for European glory this season? Let’s take a look at what could happen throughout the remainder of the campaign.
West Ham United
The Hammers have actually taken to life extremely well in the UEFA Europa League this season and they have since been made one of the favourites to win the competition at one of the best football betting sites that is available to punters because of their early season form.
Although they have been put in Group H alongside the likes of GNK Dinamo Zagreb, KRC Genk and SK Rapid Wien – teams many would expect the Irons to defeat – the Premier League outfit has struggled in the past when it comes down to European nights.
However, with two wins from two before heading into their contest with Genk, it would seem David Moyes’ side are one of the teams to watch in the entire competition and one that could seriously challenge for silverware if they continue in the same way that they currently are!
Leicester City
Also tipped to be amongst one of the challengers for the Europa League title, The Foxes have had a tough start in Group C, although they certainly have a group that would be deemed a lot harder on paper than West Ham’s.
Their opening three matches provided each of the possible results available, as they managed to get an impressive draw against Italian outfit SSC Napoli, whilst they were on the end of a shock defeat in Poland to Legia Warszawa.
However, their most recent result was an impressive victory against Spartak Moscow, with Patson Daka being the star of the show as he netted all four goals scored by The Foxes in the 3-4 victory in Russia.
That victory perhaps also highlighted their title contender credentials as Brendan Rodgers’ side managed to come back from 2-0 down to score four before conceding a late third, whilst a trip to Russia is never easy at the best of times.
They will need to play better, though, if they are to get further in the competition, as their shock loss to Legia will have shown that they can be beaten.
Tottenham Hotspur
Spurs are currently playing in the UEFA Europa Conference League after acquiring the final spot available for European football from the Premier League and they have shown that they can be incredibly unpredictable in the tournament.
Nuno Espírito Santo’s men had to overcome the qualification rounds first and made a mess of it as they lost their opener against Pacos de Ferreira, however Harry Kane spared their blushes and put them in the Group Stage.
Placed in Group G alongside Stade Rennais, NS Mura and Vitesse Arnhem, the Premier League outfit would be strongly favoured to escape the phase with ease, although they struggled in their opening game.
They managed to pick up a point against Stade Rennais after a 2-2 draw, who are their toughest opponent by far, although they turned on the burners after they destroyed Slovenian outfit NS Mura 5-1 at home.
They head to Vitesse to complete the first round of fixtures and once that has been completed, we will have a better idea of where Spurs are and their chances of winning silverware!
