Unfortunately, we’re already into the first break of the Premier League season, as World Cup qualifiers take over the show, after only 3 games. So, we might as well look at the happenings of the season so far, right? From big-name transfers to shock performances and everything in between.

Arsenal
I feel like it would be weird to do a Premier League news segment without talking about Arsenal at all. Arsenal currently sit bottom of the table, with 3 played, 3 losses, 0 goals for and 9 against. Now, while they have played City and Chelsea, they also played premier league new boys Brentford on the opening day of the season. Arsenal fans would’ve been hoping for at least 5 points now. A draw against a much improved Chelsea team and a point against City would always be the minimum they would be wanting. No points from Brentford however is simply unforgivable for a team like Arsenal.
Arsenal have spent more money than any other premier league at an estimated £149 million. Let’s break down their spending;
| Player | Pos | Age | Nat | From | Fee |
| Ben White | CB | 23 | Eng | Brighton | £52.65m |
| Martin Ødegaard | CAM | 22 | Nor | Real Madrid | £31.5m |
| Aaron Ramsdale | GK | 23 | Eng | Sheff Utd | £25.2m |
| Takehiro Tomiyasu | CB | 22 | Jpn | Bologna | £16.74m |
| Albert Sambi Laokonga | CM | 21 | Bel | RSC Anderlecht | £15.75m |
| Nuno Tavares | LB | 21 | Por | Benfica | £7.20m |
A few things of note, the Martin Ødegaard transfer isn’t necessarily a big boon, since he was there on loan last season and they just made it permanent. He made 14 league appearances last season and scored 1 goal. £31m based on that? I don’t know honestly, I don’t think I’d be paying it. Of course Martin Ødegaard WAS touted to be the next big thing and at 22 he’s still potentially capable of hitting those heights, but is he going to achieve that in this Arsenal squad? I doubt it.
Next, I wanna say something about Ben White and Aaron Ramsdale. It’s safe to say that last season Ben White impressed quite a lot. But when you look at how much solid CBs like Ibrahima Konate cost (£36m) is Ben White a £50+ million defender? No, most certainly not. When I question the Aaron Ramsdale transfer, there’s a good reason for that. They had a fantastic second option, who they let go last season, Emi Martinez. This is a transfer they didn’t have to make, but here we are, Arsenal throwing money at problems they created for themselves.
Do I see this Arsenal team improving? Yes. Do I see them finishing in the top half of the table? Most definitely not. When you look at some of the best sites for sports betting, they all seem to agree with me. They’re poor, they have made daft decisions in the transfer market and ultimately, if I’m being honest. I don’t think Mikel Arteta is good enough to manage a team like Arsenal. Even being given the opportunity was a surprise to me, all he had done was been Pep Guardiola’s assistant, okay, fair enough. But is that enough to be given a BIG club like Arsenal? Definitely not.

He’s just class isn’t he?
Cristiano Ronaldo
The last few days of the transfer window were kinda wild, the rumour mill was well and truly churning. Who is making one last big acquisition? Many names thrown around, M’Bappe, Haaland, Ronaldo. Wait, Ronaldo? I never expected to see him leave Juventus this season if I’m being completely honest with you, but where is he going? PSG? Oh. Manchester City. Much to the dismay of Manchester United fans. The internet went wild, City fans were rejoicing, United fans were spitting. Shirts were burned and message boards were in uproar. That was, until… It turned out he was actually going to United???
United managed to pick up Christiano Ronaldo, who is 36 years old and still one of the best players in the world, for £13.5m. I’m sorry but, they’ll make that back in shirt sales alone. The question is, can Ronaldo still do a job in the Premier League? That remains to be seen, he brings something extra to their team for sure. I just find the whole thing kind of cringe. When you look at Ronaldo’s career, he spent 6 years at United, but 9-10 years at Real Madrid. Not to mention his 6 years at Lisbon before his move to United. But all the United fans screaming welcome home? WELCOME HOME? A couple of days prior you were all saying he ruined his legacy, saying you never want to see him again. All because he was apparently going to City! Football fans are fickle eh?
Anyway that’s gonna do it for this one. What do you guys make of the season so far? How do you rate your team’s transfer window? Do you think your team will do well this season? We’ve got a long way to go, so strap in!
