6 Types of Sports Bets Explained

Sam Hoskins at Northampton Town – scout report

Hoskins beats three opponents to carry possession into the opposition half.

If you want to bet at a non GamStop bookmaker, there are many sports to choose from. Will it be football, tennis or Formula 1? Once you’ve made your choice, you’re not done yet. Because when you go through the long list of matches, you immediately notice that there are many different types of bets. Read here more. Which bet is going to make you a lot of money?

Who Will Win the Title & Can Call Themselves Champion?

At major tournaments and championships, the number of gamblers increases rapidly. The European Football Championship, the Olympic Games and the Tour de France simply attract many viewers.

If you follow these kinds of prestigious competitions, you probably have an idea about who will win the title. With the non GamStop bookmakers you can often pass on your prediction months in advance. And that has its advantages. If you try to predict who will become the national football champion in October, you can benefit from extra high odds. It is very uncertain how the season will unfold, and the bookmakers are still in the dark. The result: odds that are certainly not wrong. But betting at an early stage definitely has a major drawback. Because the risk that ‘your’ Tour de France winner is ultimately not in enough shape!

Predict Who Will Win the Match

Sports are not all about titles and championships. Phil Taylor has to beat his opponents in the first rounds before he can even win the darts tournament. And what about Max Verstappen? Even if he can’t become a champion anymore, he still wants to win a race. So don’t just focus on the big picture, but also look at the individual matches. In many sports you can both designate the winner and pass on the exact score. Maybe you believe that the classic between Ajax and Feyenoord ends in 2-1. Or who knows, do you think Rafael Nadal will win the Roland Garros final with 3 sets to 1. The odds on these types of bets are higher than if you just predict the winner. But if you are one goal or set off.

Focus on One Half/ One Set

A tennis match can take quite a long time, especially if it is a five-setter. Also at some football matches it is difficult to stay sharp for 90 minutes. Fortunately, you don’t have to sit out the entire match to know if you’ll win a bet. You can also limit yourself to a single set or half. For example, focus on questions such as:

  • Will goals be scored during the first half of the football match?
  • Which tennis player will win the first set?
  • Will there be a tie-break at the end of the first tennis set?
  • How many goals are scored in the first period of an ice hockey game?
  • How many three-pointers do we see in the first quarter of a basketball game?

By focusing on a small part of the match, you can easily complete multiple bets in a row. Ideal for gamblers who like to keep the pace!

Make Your Choice From the Many Over/Under Bets

It is difficult to indicate exactly how often something will happen. To offer you some guidance, non GamStop bookmakers like to give you a guideline. It is then your task to determine whether something occurs more often (over) or less often (under) than the set norm. In football, this standard can be equal to, for example, the number of goals or the number of corners.

With darts you can then make an over/under bet on the number of 180s. If you like to watch handball, you might focus on the number of times HC Odense manages to find the goal.

In over/under bets, the norm is always half points. You can bet on over 1.5, over 2.5 or under 3.5. The more unlikely something will happen, the higher the odds get. Over 5.5 in a football match can yield a lot of profit, but the chance is of course not so great that there are 6 goals or more. So consider carefully whether those high odds are worth the great risk.

Are You Going for Even/Odd?

You can easily exchange an over/under bet for an even/odd bet. Here too the question is how often something occurs. Only the number of goals or games is not important. What matters is whether this number is an even or an odd number. This type of betting occurs in football, tennis, basketball and volleyball. In fact, all sports in which goals are scored are suitable for such an odd/even bet. Still, you don’t necessarily have to focus on goals or sets. Even the number of drivers that complete a Formula 1 race can be good for an odd/even bet. In addition, you always have a 50% chance of winning. That may sound appealing, but seasoned gamblers will not be tempted by this. They mainly see a type of bet in which luck is an important factor. You cannot conduct any analysis on whether 16 or 17 drivers will reach the finish line of a Formula 1 race. All you can do is keep your fingers crossed and hope that luck is on your side.

Forget the Team, Look at a Single Player

In team sports such as football, basketball, volleyball or handball, you almost automatically look at the whole. All players must work together to achieve an optimal result. But that does not mean that the individual players become uninteresting. So, let go of that group feeling and focus on a single player from the team. For example, watch the top scorer in NBA basketball and predict how many times he will throw the ball into the basket. Over/under bets are very suitable for this. With these types of bets, it doesn’t matter whether the team wins the match or not. Even if a football match is lost 5-1, you can cheer. That is, if ‘your’ footballer has scored that one goal.
