Soccer is the favorite game of millions of people due to the burning drive and the excessive concentration of emotions. It is enough to play in a small club in a match, and adrenaline fills the whole body. The tension in the game is enormous. Victory attracts like a magnet. The main desire is to feel the strongest, the best of the best. Cups, titles, and prize money come second. Players are ready to do quite strange things for the right to reach the podium. In addition to hope for their own strength and hard training, there is always a particular faith in sports luck. Even professional soccer players try to attract it with the help of special rituals.

Professional analysts make accurate predictions about the soccer match. But every fan knows a strong club can lose to a newcomer from the bottom of the standings. Footballers check when your lucky day is in order to find astrology lucky days for gambling. When faith in their strength is reinforced in this way, it is much easier to hit the ball accurately. There are no universal solutions here. If a player notices that he is lucky under certain conditions, he will try to follow them next time.

Small Habits For A Big Win

Proper preparation for an important event shows effective performance in all competitive activities. It is especially noticeable where success depends on the factor of chance. For example, professional gambling fans are cautious about small rituals. You can check this if you track the stories of all those who managed to enter the “Top 10 Biggest Online Slot Machine Wins of All Time” and get rich. When it comes to big money, we must trust our intuition and help it by creating favorable external conditions.

Winning in sports costs a lot of physical effort. So, the tension here is even greater. Any team has its mascot, which should bring success. Fans appreciate them as much as the official symbols of clubs. If something happens to it, everyone expects a loss.

Individual players and entire teams have soccer rituals. Having your special seat on the bus is considered the norm, which only changes under any circumstances if there is a big match ahead. The same goes for personal numbers on the team. Players try to keep them on transfers, which keeps their confidence up. Small rituals fill the competition at all stages. Some of the most typical ones include:

  • own order of putting on sports equipment;
  • listening to the same songs when going to the stadium;
  • a special menu before the game.

The number of strange habits in soccer players can reach several dozen, sometimes more. The goalkeepers are considered the most advanced in this regard. They have a huge responsibility to guard the gate and often must be alone with several attacking opposing strikers. Goalkeepers make little preparations to prevent their opponent from scoring a goal. For example, some may hug and kiss the goalpost before the match, while others must touch the ball before the match starts. The result of such actions is the same – getting the right attitude even before the referee’s whistle.

Features Of A Soccer Player’s Clothing

In general, soccer players are very careful about everything that relates to uniforms. Only their clothes are used, since other people’s things will definitely bring failure. If we analyze the athlete’s closet by components, then it is possible to do something for success with each of its elements.

Type of clothing and shoes Sports ritual
Boots Players use their own lacing order. The laces themselves can be different lengths and colors. Some athletes take their shoes off and put them on before a meet.
Leg warmers  Superstitious athletes often wear them inside out. Even watching the match on TV, you can see holes on the leg warmers that soccer players make on the side of the shin. You can put something small in the socks themselves, bringing good luck.
Underwear Here everything is limited only by the athlete’s imagination. Individual coloring or drawings on them is accepted at https://www.britannica.com/topic/SpongeBob-SquarePants.
Shorts Nobody will put them on backwards, but it is very possible to attach a small pin.
T-shirt The most important thing on a T-shirt is its number. Players believe that it helps them to score a goal in the opponent’s goal. The sleeves of this piece of clothing may be trimmed or something may be written with a marker.

The exchange of shirts after the match has a separate meaning. With this simple ritual, players express their respect for the opponent and gratitude for decent behavior on the field.

The Craziest And Most Confusing Rituals

There is a common belief among soccer players that they must not cut or shave on the day before a match. Violation of this restriction threatens defeat. The same applies to the rule to enter the soccer field with the right foot; even left-handed players adhere to it. After all, if you start the match not as usual, the opponent will win. On a team scale, this tradition took a slightly different form – at the home stadium, the first half of the meeting should start only on the happy part of the field.

The strangest traditions in soccer are associated with specific players. Fabien Alain Barthez- an outstanding French goalkeeper who liked to shave his head naked. It was believed that if another player of the French national team, Laurent Blanc, kissed his bald head before the match, success would be assured. The tradition has become so popular that it was followed even by the President of France.

A well-known Dutchman in soccer, Johan Cruyff, adhered to two traditions. Before the match, he slapped his team’s goalkeeper and threw chewing gum on the opponent’s field. He forgot to take the gum one day, and his team lost.

To sum up, we can say the following about soccer rituals:

  • all methods that do not violate the principles of fair play are suitable for winning;
  • traditions should be unusual and appeal to the fans;
  • only regular performance of all actions brings significant results.

Even ordinary soccer players, for whom sport is a hobby, have an arsenal of techniques. They help them to enjoy their favorite pastime.
