With the 2022 FIFA World Cup right around the corner, there will be many that will be wondering who the next champions will be.
Could it be France once again and retain the title that they had managed to win in 2018 in Russia? Or will we see another country be able to win the biggest prize in football?
Indeed, there are many that have already pinpointed the likes of Brazil and England as potential candidates, and those that enjoy a gambling session when playing some of their favorite iGaming titles at the sites listed on the platform that highlights non UK casinos, there may be some that will be considering to further enhance their overall betting experiences by placing wagers on the tournament.
But, with this in mind, what about Portugal? Could the Selecao (the other one) be able to pull up some trees in Qatar and finally give Cristiano Ronaldo the only prize that he is yet to win in football? Given the recent squad that has been announced, it would be hard not to consider them at the very least!
Let’s take a look at the 26-man squad list that Fernando Santos has submitted for the upcoming tournament below…
Goalkeepers: Diogo Costa (Porto), Rui Patricio (Roma), Jose Sa (Wolverhampton).
Defenders: Diogo Dalot (Manchester United), Joao Cancelo (Manchester City). Raphael Guerreiro (Dortmund), Antonio Silva (Benfica), Pepe (Porto), Nuno Mendes (PSG), Danilo Pereira (PSG), Ruben Dias (Manchester City).
Midfielders: Joao Palhinha (Fulham), Ruben Neves (Wolverhampton), Bernardo Silva (Manchester City), Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United), Joao Mario (Benfica), Matheus Nunes (Wolverhampton), Otavio (Porto). Vitinha (PSG), William Carvalho (Real Betis).
Forwards: Andre Silva (RB Leipzig), Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United), Goncalo Ramos (Benfica), Joap Felix (Atlético Madrid), Ricardo Horta (Braga), Rafael Leao (AC Milan).
Just wow! That is a squad that is bursting with quality and talent wherever you look. Right from the goalkeeper department and all the way through the remainder of the team!
Indeed, it will be incredibly difficult to try and work out how the team may line up given the quality that they have available to them, however with all of the attacking threat that they boast, it would not be a surprise if we were to see a number of them be able to get on the scoresheet.
Placed in Group H alongside Ghana, Uruguay, and South Korea, it would not be a surprise to see Portugal walk it with the talent that they have, thus then becoming a formidable foe in the later stages of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
