Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Norbert Klopp is a German professional football coach and former player who currently manages Premier League club, Liverpool. He became a manager in 2001. His longest-serving management was the time with Dortmund when he guided the team to win the domestic double in the 2010-2011 season and a runner-up finish in the 2012-2013 UEFA Champions League.

In 2015, Klopp started managing Liverpool and also helped the club to successive UEFA Champions League finals in the 2018-2019 Premier League. In the next season, he won Liverpool’s first FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup while delivering the team’s first Premier League title. Those kinds of achievements made him get the awards of FIFA Coach of the Year in 2019 and 2020.

Antonio Conte

Antonio Conto is an Italian professional football coach and former player. When he was playing as a midfielder, he became one of the most influential and decorated footballers in Juventus’s history. He captained the team to win 5 Serie A titles and the UEFA Champions League. Later on, he joined the Italy national team and took part in the 1994 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2000.

Conto began his managerial career since 2006 with achievements of leading Siena to promotion and Bari to a Serie B title. He took over Juventus in 201, helped the team win 2 consecutive Serie A titles and then led the Italian national team in 2014 until UEFA Euro 2016. In his first and second season taking charge of Chelsea, the club reached the Premier League title and won the FA Cup. In 2019, he guided Inter Milan to win the Serie A title.

Jose Mourinho

Jose Mario dos Santos Mourinho Félix is a Portuguese professional soccer manager and former player who is now managing Serie A club Roma. After ending up playing as a midfielder in the Portuguese leagues, he became an interpreter for Sir Bobby Robson at Porto and Sporting CP. Afterwards, he was a helpful assistant at Barcelona under Louis van Gaal and Robson.

In 2002, Mourinho officially became the manager of Porto and helped the team to win the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Cup, 2 Primeira Liga and a Taca de Portugal. That success earned him to join Chelsea 2 years later where he won 2 League Cups, a FA Cup and 2 Premier League titles.

In 2008, Mourinho moved to Inter Milan and received the Serie A twice including the UEFA Champions League, the Coppa Italia and a European treble of Serie A. In 2010, he became the first FIFA World Coach of the Year and also 1 of 5 managers to have won the European Cup with 2 football teams.

Between 2011 and 2012, Mourinho worked with Real Madrid and won La Liga with a record points tally, making him the 5th manager to win the league titles in 4 nations. He also achieved a Supercopa de Espana and a Copa del Rey.

In 2013, he came back to Chelsea and won the League Cup. Three years later, he joined Manchester United and won the FA Community Shield, League Cup, and the UEFA Europa League right at his first season. In 2019, he coached Tottenham Hotspur but was fired after 2 years. However, Roma soon hired Mourinho.

In 2015, the Portuguese Football Federation called Mourinho the Portuguese Coach of the Century. Due to his controversial and charismatic personality, his reputation for prioritizing results over appealing soccer, and his tactical knowledge, he has drawn comparisons by not only critics but also admirers, with Helenio Herrera-a famous Argentine manager in the football world.

Pep Guardiola

Josep “Pep” Guardiola Sala is a Spanish professional football manager and former player who currently manages the Premier League club Manchester City. Guardiola is known as one of the best football coaches of all time and holds the record for the most consecutive league competitions won in the Premier League, the Bundesliga, and La Liga.

Besides the attractive playing career, Guardiola also showed his great abilities as a manager. When first coaching Barcelona B, he helped the team to win a Tercera Division title, Copa del Rey, La Liga, and UEFA Champions League. In 2011, he was awarded the Catalan Parliament’s Gold Medal and the FIFA World Coach of the Year.

After ending a 4-year contract with Barcelona, Guardiola joined Bayern Munich in 2013 and guided the team to win the Bundesliga and 2 domestic doubles. In 2016, he moved to Manchester City and guided them to a Premier League title while breaking various domestic records, which led the team to become the first to get 100 league points. In the following season, he won a second consecutive EFL Cup, Premier League, FA Cup and became the first football coach to have won the domestic treble in the history of English men’s soccer.

Sir Alex Ferguson

Sir Alexander Chapman Ferguson is a Scottish former football coach and player for East Stirlingshire, St Mirren, Aberdeen, Scotland, and especially Manchester United.

During his playing career, he was the top goalscorer for many Scottish clubs such as Rangers and Dunfermline. When it comes to his coach life, he also enjoyed an extremely successful career with Aberdeen (1 UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup, 4 Scottish Cups, and 3 Scottish league championships). In 1986, he started mentoring Manchester United and made the club achieve a massive reputation. They won 38 trophies containing 2 UEFA Champions League titles, 5 FA Cups, and 13 Premier League titles. This notable management career gave Ferguson a place in the 1999 Queen’s Birthday Honours list. However, after winning the Premier League in the 2012-2013 season, he decided to retire.

Overall, we cannot deny the important contribution of a football coach to the success of a football team. Therefore, he deserves the respect of his players. Besides the impressive playing career, the aforementioned managers have also created lots of powerful clubs. The football world may not be as attractive as nowadays without their appearance. So, what is your opinion? Who is your favorite coach?
